adrenaline dependency

on exams :S, Is it even a condition?
I think I am seriously suffering from it. If I am not studying it seems like I am wasting my life :bummer: . For past 10-11 years I have been working full time and studying part time and now I am so use to study with work that it’s an important part of my daily routine. I started working in hi school and up till now I have done 2 bachelors, an MBA and around a dozen certifications. luckily I am in IT so things are always changing over here and I have to keep my self updated, but still I miss that anxiety of examinations, stress of deliveirng assignments/reports on time, excitement of waiting for results, the satisfaction of actually gaining some knowledge. with out all of this life seems useless.
any one else who feels like that???

p.s. Lucid Chaotic this query is for normal ppl like me :bummer:

Re: adrenaline dependency

^ so you're saying I'm not normal ? :(

I totally understand where you're coming from though - that sounds like me a few years ago. I used to be hooked on certifications... and they've certainly helped me in ways I never anticipated while initially pursuing them.

I don't see anything wrong with what you're doing... some people just want to broaden their horizons... my friends call me a polymath, and I'm proud to be one - so Join the club! but also remember that applying what you learn is far more fulfilling than just learning the theory, and obtaining the credentials. So try seeking opportunities where you can apply your newly acquired skills, and this might slow you down or provide an alternative source of informational adrenaline.

then tell me a single reason y didn’t any 1 else replied :vivo:
On a serious note shud I go 4 a Phd, it can quench my thirst for a couple of yrs, wat do u think???

a couple of years is a gross understatement. If you’re planning to do it in the States, you’re looking at around 4 years, typically 2 or 3 years of which you have to be a full-time student (depending on residency requirements of the program).

It might be worth considering if you’re interesting in research… it’s a different type of learning though - nothing like certifications, nothing like other professional graduate programs like the MBA which are based on coursework.

A lot depends on the type of program, the institution and the graduate program regulations.
