Adoption in Morocco & Pakistan

My husband and I are interested in adoption from either Morocco or Pakistan. At this point we are just starting the process in the US. We are going to be speaking to an adoption attorney this week to discuss the overall process and go from there. I have a couple of questions that I was hoping someone could help me with.

  1. For those that have adopted, how long did the process take in entirity? (From the time you contacted an agency in country to the time you were able to take your child home).

  2. While we would probably go through Eidi in Pakistan, I have no idea which agency/agencies to contact in Morocco. Is there one that you recommend? We haven’t decided which country to go through but one of the deciding factors is the waiting period or length of stay in country after papers have been signed. It seems like the stay in Morocco will be less than in Pakistan, but I guess it really depends on the situation.

  3. For those that have gone through the adoption process in either country, what were the roadblocks you faced or what should watch out for?

Any information would be appreciated  If you prefer to private message the info that is fine as well!

Re: Adoption in Morocco & Pakistan

If you search the parenting forum for adoption you will find old threads that have very useful information about adoption from both Pakistan and Morocco.
I am also in the process of collecting information but I only plan to adopt from preferably Pakistan and if not than US so I do not have all the information and I have not gone through the process yet.
From what I have learned the waiting time for a Pakistan adoption varies but if you keep calling Edhi, they would take you seriously otherwise not. So you need to call them often to show your interest. Also I think you can only adopt newborns or a very young child from Edhi and not older kids. You would also need to stay in Pakistan after you get the child for I think 3 to 4 months before you can bring the child back.

Do search the forum for old threads.
