adoption is allowed in Islam, you just have to feed the adopted baby with the milk of a mehram lady of that family so the kid after growing up, does not become na mehram for the mother or the father (depending upon the gender of the kid)
If people only knew how to use google correctly for research...
LEGAL ADOPTION IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED IN ISLAM.
You can help the poor as much as you want, Islam encourages this but you can not give your name to that child due to many logical problems like:
- Inheritance issues (Adopted child Islamically has no right on the inheritence)
- If you are blessed with your own child after the adoption, your own child will have more attention (only human)
- In the case of adopting a girl, A man is making that women haram on himself when Allah has made her halal for that man
- Opposite sex adopted children can not live with na-mehram in the same house without hijab etc., father becomes na-mehram for adopted girl when she grows up...
- Our Prophet Mohammad (SA, PBUH) practically shown us by ordeing his pre-prohibition adopted son to divorce his wife and later marrying his x-wife.
- etc. etc.
