What problems would a lady face if she decided to adopt kids even though she isnt married or never was married ?
and
What problems(legal/societal) would she face if she did go thru the adoption process?
Re: Adopting kids and the problems accompanied with it ?
1- she will have less options regarding where she can legally adopt from
2- societal problems depends by which society obviously but for pak society its of a few diff types- and mostly it is about lame taboos and crap, there would be people who will be stuck on semantics and declaring it unislamic to adopt, others would be talking about na mehram issues, the question on why she adopted and is she straight may be other things.
I would say she should be concerned with legal and not worry about societal issues, especially if she is not living in Pakistan

Re: Adopting kids and the problems accompanied with it ?
not sure what countries allow, but the country she is living in also has to allow
the other problems are the issues single parents face, no one to help, kids dont have a 2 parents household and it has its challenges
if we look at adoption as somoene helping raise a child, then it does not matter if they are married, single or divorced. somoene may get into semantics of adoption/fostering/guardianship in islam with its guidelines, but the short answer is that there is no prohibition. Think of it this way, if my wife and i die in an accident, and my single brother is taking care of my kids, what can be unislamic about it? the namehram issue is the only issue, but that in itself does not prohibit it.
Re: Adopting kids and the problems accompanied with it ?
for answering…just a few more questions..
do u have any idea if KSA allows?
na mehram wont be an issue if she is adopting a girl…
wud it be advisable to live on her own and raise the kid or live with her family?
Re: Adopting kids and the problems accompanied with it ?
There is the option of sponsoring an orphan as opposed to adopting one , maybe a better option for a single lady .
Re: Adopting kids and the problems accompanied with it ?
In India, there is absolutely no problem with single or unmarried or divorced or widowed or lesbian women adopting a child, they can do so legally and quickly.
However a single male cannot adopt a child in India.
Re: Adopting kids and the problems accompanied with it ?
Reeks of sexual discrimination, however it is the law, as it currently stands.
Re: Adopting kids and the problems accompanied with it ?
^ i think most other places which allow single parent adoptions have the same situation, women can but men can not
Re: Adopting kids and the problems accompanied with it ?
The first problem I thought of was lack of a father figure in the child's life.. I think adoption organisation prefer couples with long term stability due to that reason

I do not think the "Father Figure" is all that important any more, in fact in India, the Fathers name (once mandatory) on the birth certificate is now optional to encourage single mothers to register the birth of their children.
Yes, in an ideal scenario a family unit should consist of a father & mother with one or two children, however times are changing and women are constitutionally empowered do everything men can to earn their own living and be independent, so my gut feel is that it is better for an orphan to be with a single mother than in an orphanage.
