If I didn’t have children I perhaps may have considered it but islamically there are lot’s of things that we need to take into consideration , like if you later do have a child of your own then they are non mehram ( if opposite sex) to the adopted child so it would make things complicated. Alsi the things said by Khalil Khan above.
It is sad though to see these children in orphanages…my heart goes out to them.

If you have an ounce of Iman in Allah SWT, you would know that helping a child abandoned in in this cruel world will have MUCH, MUCH more weight in front of Allah SWT than the gunnah due to mehram issues (if there is any gunnah in this case which I highly doubt) will ever have.

God! What has happened to Muslims? Islam is not a religion of technicalities; its a religion of humanity! Allah SWT wants you to help your fellow creatures!
