I had Adobe 6.0 that came with my computer, and I need to upgrade it to Adobe 7.0.

Do I seriously have to buy the new version, or is there a way to upgrade for free?

Adobe Reader is free. Adobe Acrobat is not. You need to buy the upgrade.

But Mr. AhmedJee made an intelligent guess. If it has come with the computer pre-installed, it can only be the free Adobe Acrobat Reader. And its previous version is version 6.0 as well.
