- Bid'ah-e-Hasana (praiseworthy innovation) is that action which does not contradict with the Holy Quran and the Sunnah and was brought into practice after the time of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) for example, to construct religious institutions, to print the Holy Quran in the press, to hold gatherings of Meelad, to eat nice food and to put on attractive clothes, etc. Bid'ah-e-Hasana is not only permissable (Ja'iz) but at times it can be appreciable (Mustahab) and even essential (Waajib).

ik Allah, ik Rasool aur ik Quran. If this is the common denominator among Muslims then our Kalima should be what Propeht SAW asked to recite the new Muslims. Period. No addition required. Ali R.A will remain as one of the greatest companion and nobody can snatch that honor from him. So let the Kalima/Azaan be same as it used to be during Prophet's time.

I think either you did not read my post correctly or read it but did not understood correctly. So, let me clarify further (even though you could find same from my earlier post too)
Kalma-e-Tayaba ‘LA ILAHA ILLALLAH MUHAMMAD- AR RASOOL-ALLAH’ (there is no ‘Allah’ but/except ‘The ‘Allah’ and Muhammad is ‘Rasul’ of Allah) is minimum belief requirement of Islam but it is not called ‘Shahadah’. This Kalma is statement but not oath. It is statement for confirmation to ourselves that what we believe (when we recite to ourselves) ... something what we can also declare loudly for others to know what we believe too.
So, one should not mix one with another. One is ‘statement’ and other is ‘oath’.

ok so my very valid points have been removed from this thread. i'd just like to re-iterate without offence that adding to kalma shahada is a sectarian move and sectarianinsm has been banned. it is a move to positively differentiate oneself from the ummah, by using an innovation, thus proves it is the group which makes the addition is a sect
the verdict of innovation on the major form of addition used today, ie ashhadu ali waliun Allah' has come from both shia and sunni scholars
the purpose of the addition is as important if not more so then what is actually said!

Yeah....here's a parable for those who want to understand.
So you have a tablet of Pure Gold. It is called Pure Gold and it is differentiated from all other matter and elevated in worth due to its characteristics of being Pure Gold. Now someone decides to add Silver and makes an alloy. Will it have the same worth? Can it still be called Pure Gold? Won't buying such a metal under the impression of it being Pure Gold be fraud, injustice and misrepresentation by the sellers?
So simply - Kalimah Tayyeba is not just another sentence. It is a Pure, Divine declaration and the basis of our faith. Any addition or subtraction to it is adultry to God's word and our faith.
