Addiction to online communication

I recently read an article on NYT about how we are all so occupied with our smartphones and ipods that we have forgotten the art of having a proper conservation. Are you all guilty of that? Especially the frequent posters on Gupshup. How do you get time to post here regularly, be on facebook, text constantly AND have a lengthy conversation with someone? Do you think you’re losing touch with communicating with people face to face due to being constantly glued to the computer or smartphone screen.

And I feel this quote from the article is very true:

“We think constant connection will make us feel less lonely. The opposite is true. If we are unable to be alone, we are far more likely to be lonely. If we don’t teach our children to be alone, they will know only how to be lonely.”

A lot of people constantly keep cheking their smartphone nowadays. It is asocial.

Re: Addiction to online communication

Guilty as charged and i dunt even have a smart phone, I waste alot of time on cricket websites, online forums and facebook.

I am really glad for not having a smart phone so that saves me a little.

I think it's easier to be distracted when you have a lot to do and you want to be distracted :(

I used to be on facebook all the time back when i had exams and coursework, now I hardly use it
