I was having a conversation with a friend of mine about smoking in front of elders and had a similar conversation with another about drinking when of age in front of parents. Their responses were at opposite ends of the spectrum.
One had said that s/he would not smoke in front of their parents. I asked why? s/he responded, its out of respect even though they know that s/he smokes.
While the other drank and smoked in front of the parents and with them at occassion; arguing that its already known, why hide this act. It brings them together as friends instead of just having a parent/child relationship.
For the life of me I can’t understand why is it different. You smoke but you don’t in front of them. Then the other does it all. What gives?
