Active Control X

Salam

Everytime I try to access my journal, I get a little pop-up box that says, “Click to run ActiveX Control on this page”. I select “ok” and it crashes my internet explorer. I try ignoring it but it won’t let me do anything else until I select ‘ok’.

Kya problem hai?

It is only happening on my home computer. Work ka computer theek kaam karta hai.

Re: Active Control X

download firefox (get it from getfirefox dot com)

It probably wont have such errors and its a pretty solid browser too. Good to have both Internet Explorer and Firefox for times like these when sopmething doesnt work in one or the other.

Re: Active Control X

I bet it happens also when you try to go into any thread in the audio forums, right?

So you need to adjust the security settings. Put them on medium or something.

Re: Active Control X

But it didn’t used to happen before Gizzy. It is only within the past few days.

Re: Active Control X

Yes its only been happning since the last couple of days. I just cross it out Mehnaz and it lets me carry on. I have 'Allow ActiveX' enabled so I don;t know why I still keep getting the pop-up.

Re: Active Control X

Re: Active Control X

That's an easy way to give malicious programs access to your computer.

Re: Active Control X

The problem isn't going away. :(

How do I change my Active control settings so this pop up will disappear? I can't ignore it cause it makes my explorer crash.

Re: Active Control X

Click Start|Run - type “gpedit.msc” without quotation marks.
Double click User Configuration|Windows Settings|Internet Explorer Maintenance|Security
Double click “Security Zones and Content Ratings” in the right pane
Under “Security Zones and Privacy”, click “Import the Current Security Zones and Privacy Settings” and click “Modify”
In the Security Tab, click “Default Level” and click Ok.

If there is still a problem, go back to the Security tab and Customize the Internet Security level by clicking “Custom”. What you’re trying to use may be an unsigned ActiveX control. Try enabling unsigned ActiveX control in the custom setting
goodluck :k:

Re: Active Control X

I've changed my settings, but the pop-up box keeps coming up whenever I go into my journal, and it crashes my internet explorer.

The weird thing is, in other peoples' journals and the audio gallery, it also pops up but I'm able to by-pass it .... but it won't let me access my own journal. :(

Re: Active Control X

hmmm... aap k journal mein aisa kia likha hai ?

here is one more thing u can try, if u haven;t already
go to Tools-->Internet Options--> go to Advanced Tab--> Click Restore Defaults

dutch_paki's trick may have done that already, but u never know... won;t hurt more than 20 seconds to try :)

good luck

Re: Active Control X

Just wondering, are you using an original windows installation or a copy?

If nothing else works you could try reinstalling IE.
Or you could upgrade to IE 7 and try again : http://www.soft32.com/download_997.html

And you could always try firefox

Re: Active Control X

Mr. G, thanks. I tried that but it didn't work.

I installed Firefox and it works fine. Strange how Internet Explorer turns out to be the problem. Is there a way I can delete IE from my computer completely? Is that wise to do or shall I just leave it be?

Re: Active Control X

it's not worth the hassle. Simply drag and drop your IE icon to the trash and just forget about it
