Re: Acrylic colored splashbacks ..

I used them in my kitchen , and completed the whole project myself. I am so proud of myself . All the desi women were shaming their husbands to do something like this around house for a change. :cb:

Review is that they are still their , shiny as the day one as they were 4 years ago. A cinch to clean and very decorative.

Mirch , thats a wonderful review , thanks so much buddy :hugz: … I know what you must be feeling with all that “you are my hero” looks you might be getting from wife and all the good comments from other ladies .. while the poor men just walk by you coz they cant face you ! :omg: … I told my husband he’s gonna fix them werna :asa:

Questions about splashback:

1- Have you put the acrylic one behind the hob as well? we will be getting an induction hob which doesnt spread the heat …

2- Did you use screws to stick them to the wall or did you use glue? if glue , which one?

3- How easy /hard is the cleaning of this stuff?

4- What color did you choose for your kitchen? :hmmm: … this one is just out of curiosity :cb:

Re: Acrylic colored splashbacks ..

also , would you rate them more glossy then glass splashbacks , equally shiny or less shiny then glass ?

  1. Yes I have put above and behind the induction hob they are fire resistant . In our kitchen we have GE Profile induction hob which has four stoves and two of them get converted into grilling hob with turn of a knob. Sometimes my wife will be using all of them together and the splash back is still there shiny and sturdy as day one. No corrosion , erosion , dullness visible.
  2. I used glue. When you buy the panels they come with instructions as to how to use the glue. You will have to ask the home improvement store guy which glue to use . I do not remember which one they suggested.
3.As I said cleaning them is a cinch. you can use any kind of household cleaning spray or soap and water and the buff them up to bring back the shine.
  3. Our kitchen appliances and fridge is stainless steel finish so I used the chrome finish. stainless steel finish was not available at the time. :bummer: It is available now so I am thinking to strip these off and put the new ones.
I did not consider the glass splash back. But they come in many many color and finishes so it is upto your taste and liking which one you want to use. I compared it to Corian splash back which was quoted to cost me 5000 dollars , my kitchen tops are Corian. Then I compared it with ceramic tiles , steel sheeting etc all that involved outside labor and in USA those kind of labor gives you lot of runaround and will involve a lot of hassle and breaking and stripping so I was advised by the home improvement store guy to go for this alternative which costed me 200 dollars and a weekend. They even had self sticking same finish sheets to cover the electrical outlets to match the splashback. and for ends they had same finish plastic molding.
It all turned out so good. I had to buy many kinds of cutters to cut the right kind of shapes for corners and edges ,so get the advise about how to cut them from the store you will buy them from.

Any more questions ?

Re: Acrylic colored splashbacks ..

Wow . thanks so much Mirch , really really appreciate it … I am not in the favour of having glass splashbacks .. they are hard to clean and a hassle … and was looking for alternatives when i stumbled upon acrylic ones …

Plus they are definitely in my budget so it makes me even happier :lifey:

I will be bugging you if i think of any other questions :hugz:
