Re: Acne Treatment...
I used to have really awful acne. I visited the dermatologist 2 years ago and he prescribed tetracycline to take orally and clindamycin to apply topically. I was also told to use a sulphur-base soap. To be honest, I didn't feel them have an effect on on my acne at all. I stopped taking tetracycline and once my clindamycin bottle was used up I started following the acne.org regimen where I'd apply 2.5 % benzoyl peroxide to my face after washing it twice daily (in the morning and before I went to bed). After the bp dried, I'd apply moisturizer to my face. The regimen improved my acne but it didn't completely cure it. It also made my skin very dry. The first few weeks on the regimen, my skin was red and peeling all the time.
I no longer use benzoyl peroxide on my face regularly because it's really really dried up my skin. Now I only use it as a spot treatment.
Nowadays I'm using a 2 % salicylic acid cleanser and oil-free moisturizer. My skin is doing pretty well alhamdullillah but I still get the occasional whiteheads and some blackheads.
Re: Acne Treatment...
Good face wash that contains benzyl peroxide, oil free fragrance free moisturizer, a good toner...3 essentials
Re: Acne Treatment...
Do any of you do facials or anything else?
Re: Acne Treatment...
i do home made masks....depending on mood....not facials...
Re: Acne Treatment...
Fresh Farmacy (soap) from Lush is good for acne prone skin. Grease lightning is not bad either ( you apply this when you feel you'll come out with spots)

Besan+lemon+yogurt= instant smooth skin, I promise! I've heard using it everyday for a week or so significantly helps with acne/skin texture (and skin tone supposedly) I have yet to complete a whole weeks cycle
Re: Acne Treatment...
Does anyone use any special medicated cleansers?

Do you mean cleansers that are meant especially for acne treatment?

Yogurt dont suit to every one. as it creates more acne on my face. so other if try share the feed back here.
Re: Acne Treatment...
Serious acne should always be treated by a dermatologist, even if it's long term care.
I used a salicylic acid cleanser, and that really helped the acne. For spots I used benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid cream, depending on what type of spot I had. Scrubbed my face with a regular scrub, and for masks whatever my skin needed at that time, whether it was to soak up all the oil or just needed something to make it feel nicer.
Facials aren't really necessary if you cleanse, scrub, tone and moisturize yourself.

i do the same, except i put haldi instead of lemon, maybe next time i'll add a pit of lemon. my mum and my sisters used to do that when i was a kid and they always used to praise the benefits of this mask, i don't know if it does do anything for acne, but i feel like it does a good job for removing impurities, tighten the pores and brightening the skin, i think it's a good mask for the summer when you tend to be oilier.
Re: Acne Treatment...
i never had acne until last year, i started breaking out on my cheeks, but i never went to see my dermatologist for that because i think it was because of my eating habits and the products that i would use, i changed everything, i eat much more healthier and drink loads of water, i avoid sugar/ chocolate / greasy food etc.. and i switched to simple and basic products you get at the pharmacy (avene, la roche posay) which contain very few ingredients compared to other brands. now my acne is completely gone.
i know there are different types of acne and there are different causes, but i think it's a good start to get good eating habits and be careful about what you put on your skin.
