Acne Scarring

Hi girls,

I have acne scarring which bothers me a lot :frowning: I have a very fair complexion so I feel like the spots are so prominent although everyone says I am exaggerating but it’s come to a point where the only time I take of my (mineral) makeup is before sleeping. I am using rosehip oil on the scarring and it is decreasing but is there anything else/additional that I can do to make the spots disappear faster?

Thanks.

Re: Acne Scarring

There are many moisturizers that help reduce dark spots and pigmentation. Pick a night cream that has those properties and apply it every night after cleansing your face.
Make sure that when you go out in the sun, you're wearing SPF. I've noticed that my acne leaves darker scars if I've been in the sun.
I've been using a mix of lemon juice and honey, and I've seen a difference. It's a slow process but it's natural so I like it. Lemon and honey are both natural bleaches

Re: Acne Scarring

Two things that work for me are1- Alum also knows as phatkari in the solid form. Just rub it after you wash your face. If you only have scaring and no acne, it can make your skin extremely dry. Ideally you should use that before going to bed. Wash your face, and rub alum on it. You cannot do it aggressively because that might give you rashes on the face. 2- Ginger juice - thats really ichy at times but I've found it very quick and effective. I generally use this if a pimple pops up a couple of days before a function. I wouldn't use that frequently though. Hope that helps. These are based on my experience out of the tips that were ever told to me. You'll have to give it test run because everyone has a different skin type and different reaction to the same thing.

Re: Acne Scarring

Retin-A can make the scars fade much faster..

Re: Acne Scarring

What percent? can i use tretinoin after 1 week of glycolic acid peel??

Re: Acne Scarring

As Deeba wrote already, Retin A (start off with .025% cream) will make they go away much faster. If you do a search on this forum you'll find tons of other threads on it. Please make sure you use sunscreen diligently.

You should also consider doing lactic acid peels (start off with like 40%). Again, a board search will bring up tons of info.

Normally yes. BUT….I saw your other thread and for some reason, you're having a much stronger reaction than I'd expect from a 15% Glycolic Peel. Since a dermatologist is doing the peels for you…..its best that you ask him/her for advice before doing anything.

Re: Acne Scarring

Uhm does tretinoin help me on the redness cause by the scabs. Scabs are gone now but redness appear after the scabs. is there anything you could advice me.? do you need a picture to see the current state? and what is the best way to have a clearer face. All i want is to remove dark spots, lighten scars and minimize the pores. I did not expect this. Im so freaking out. and by the way it seems like after I put moisturizer (soaking my face) scabs easily fall off and some leave red ness and i dont know if its mark. so it got worst. any way i could lighten my face. Im so depressed. thanks for the Quick reply.

Re: Acne Scarring

Tretinoin will help with acne, even out skin tone, hyper pigmentation, and will also help get rid of/prevent fine lines and wrinkles.

As for the reaction from the peel….what did your dermatologist say?

Re: Acne Scarring

retin a is so good. just use at night.

Re: Acne Scarring

She just said its normal after the peel! i trust my dermatologist. My skin just reacts to the peel so much! I dont have a breakout. More like i want enlarge pores and scars to disappear. now if i want it faster and without downtime,, I could take Isotretinoin AcneTrex? is that ok? any side effects?

Re: Acne Scarring

I've used Bio Oil. It's a great product - I usually apply before I go to bed with a cotton ball. Within weeks it removed a lots of acne scars. Also works well on stretch marks on your body. You can order online. Pretty amazing stuff.

Re: Acne Scarring

1) There is NOTHING that can make your pores smaller permanently. Makeup and other creams might make them look smaller TEMPORARILY...but that's about it. That's just a medical fact.

2) I don't know what AcneTrex is but if that is something your dermatologist has given you, then I don't see the harm in trying. You should ask her about potential side effects.

3) If you're looking to get rid of hyperpigmentation or to even out skin tone, ask your derm about Retin A and see what she says. In addition, you can also consider facial creams that has glycolic acid in it such as Alpha Hydroxy 12% glycolic soufflé. But again, since your skin is so sensitive and reacts to strongly to a mere 15% glycolic peel.....I strongly advice you to talk to your derm first before trying anything with acid in it.
