Acne free

Any of you suffered from acne and got it treated ? Could you tell us how ?
I’ve had antibiotics 4 times in the last 14 months and my acne is still there :hinna:
I don’t want to try roaccutane.

Re: Acne free

Me too . my acne is holding me back for a while now
I was also considering about roaccutane

Re: Acne free

I know someone who suffered from acne and they used african black soap on their face. The acne was virtually gone within 3 months. African black soap is made from natural products and is organic I believe. Worth a try.

Re: Acne free

Do you reside in Pakistan ? I heard homeopathic treatment is good for it, but you’d have to get a good homeopathy Dr . I don’t have access to a homeopath Dr :hinna:

Which brand ?

Re: Acne free

Dudu Osun I believe. It’s a well-known brand for black soap.

Re: Acne free

I'll check out if I can find it here. I stopped using any kind of soap years back as I heard soap is bad for facial skin.

Re: Acne free

Nope i am not and even if i was i think these natural remedies are a waste of time .

Re: Acne free

I know of someone who was cured by a homeopath. But I don’t have access to that kind of Dr.
Roaccutane is severe :hinna:
Antibiotics wreaked havoc in my system too. I won’t take any more antibiotics.

Re: Acne free

You can always order it online. I ordered myself some from the actual brand website and I had no issues with it.

Also this soap is made totally from natural products so shouldn't affect your facial skin. The soap does dry out the skin however, but putting on moisturiser afterwards should solve this issue.

Re: Acne free

Are you using this soap ? For how long have you used it ? Is it helping you ?

Re: Acne free

I have been using isotretinoin for like 14 months now but it’s not working for me
i am left with no other options but roaccutane

Re: Acne free

Yes. I don't and never did suffer from acne but just a few normal pimples on my face. I've been using the soap for the past month now and I've noticed the blemishes are fading, skin look healthier and also makes it brighter.

Re: Acne free

I know people are going to think I am crazy when I say this, but TRUST ME IT WORKS !!!!

you should have a routine first of all, wash, and moisturize everyday. Now, having that said, here is what I recommend, and this does work I promise. you just have to give it time.

wash your face with soap, a cleanser, whatever you want. in all honestly, it DOES NOT MATTER, because think about it, that stuff stays on your skin for about 30 seconds or so- however long you wash your face. it does not have (length of timewise) enough contact with your skin to make an impact on it. washing your face is purely to take the day's dirt, makeup, whatever off of you. that is it. some people buy very expensive cleansers thinking they work better blah blah.. but all you do is literally wash it down the draiin anyway, don't waste your time and money.

if you do find that your cleanser is not cleaning your face properly with makeup on, then use wet wipes first to take off the makeup, then follow with your cleanser to take the rest of the dirt etc off.

moisturize - I recommend only doing this in the evening, at bedtime for obvious reasons. Use either coconut oil, argan oil or grapeseed oil after washing. only a tiny bit, enough to moisturize, massage it in and go to bed. these oils have great anti flammatory properties with antioxidants that help soothe irritated skin and clear it up. do this alternating nights, and the other nights you dont use it, use tea trea oil. tea tree oil is natural, and combats acne like it's nobody's business !! google search this stuff, you will see it.

during the day you can moisturize with the oil if you want, but if you are going out or wearing makeup, it will not work well with that. so instead, just use any simple face cream with spf in it to protect from the sun. underneath that if you want, you can use a topical gel or cream that has salicylic acid OR benzoyl peroxide it, both fight acne.

do not overlaod your face with excessive harsh products. your skin will get worse instead of getting better and stay that way. the more you try to mattify your face by drying it out with harsh products, the more your skin will generate oil, your skin will not be able to breathe, dirt gets trapped into your pores, and pimples form. it's a cycle you have to break, or at lessen.

this is all from my personal experience. I used to have horrible horrible acne while growing up, and I wish someone had given me this information, but I had to figure it out on my own. remember, you have to keep your regimen simple. I give this same advice to anyone who has these issues, and it has helped some.

try it. it may work for you too :)

Re: Acne free

ACNE… biggest horror story of my life :hoonh: I have been facing it off and on since 16.
Things which worked on me are :
I initially had antibiotics for 3 days and then gave a break of 15 days and then fore 3 more days , then 15 days break and did the same 2 more times, actually antibiotics helps in healing the scars in acne treatment.
Then i had Isotretinoin 0.05% , i used to put it at bed time after washing my face (giving 30 minutes gap to face wash) ,i kept putting this until i had no more new pimple. Initially it gives you more pimples and before starting it my dermatologist did tell me this. When i had no new pimple i also started using Hydroquinone 2% with isotretinoin , This was actually to fade the scars, After 2 weeks of putting this i gradually started quitting Iso, like not all at once but on alternate days, and then after more 2 weeks i totally quit and was using Hydroquinone alone.
It almost took 4-6 months and my face got all cleared as i was having THE WORST acne.
With all this i used to drink plenty of water, wash my hair and tied them away from forehead, keep my skin make up free and do moisturize your skin. Don’t dry your face with towels , let it air dry and change your bed covers and pillow cover frequently.
This was the most easiest of all treatments which i did for acne, I did try Homeopathic but it didn’t work for me , changed a lot of dermatologists but all in vain.
Even now when i start getting acne at any point of year i start doing this excluding antibiotics. Alhumdulilah my skin is all clear now.

It varies from person to person , may be you should discuss this with your dermatologist? it might help
Good luck and eat healthy!

Re: Acne free

Wash ur face with raw organic honey. It should be easy to get a hold of in the middle east, LP. People with acne who have tried it said it rid them of acne. You rub your face with it just as you would cleanser...and wash off. Do this every morning and be regular in it. If possible... Keep honey on face for 10-15 mins before washing... That will be better. It's antibacterial... And it seals in moisture. It contains AHA so it also exfoliates skin. And in Islamic medicine it 's said to be a source of healing for many ailments. So, try this and be regular.

Re: Acne free

I bought it today. I'll start using it soon. I hope it helps

Re: Acne free

I hope it works for you

Moisturizing seems to be my enemy:hinna:

My derm keep giving antibiotics

I’ll give it a try too soon.

Re: Acne free

Antibiotics kill bacteria basically. Honey does the same... Botj topically and internally; only it 's a natural product. Don't overdo tjr antibiotics ; it comes woth side effects.

Re: Acne free

No more antibiotics for me. I've had enough side effects :(

Re: Acne free

This. Honestly, this is the best advice anyone can give you about acne. Unfortunately it's not as easy as taking pills, as it requires discipline, but it works.

First, try to figure out what is the root cause of your acne. Is it hormonal ie are you getting pimples only or mostly around your periods? Or is it environmental ie oily skin, diet, other skin products? If it's hormonal, then the only thing that will keep it under control unfortunately is birth control pills. Antibiotics will do absolutely nothing. If it's environmental then a lot of things can be done to put things under control. Accutane is the gold standard for a reason, and it should only be used as a last resort, after you've tried absolutely and everything under the sun. But if acne is damaging your skin, other than discoloration (eg box scars, rolling scars, etc), then go for accutane, since it will definitely save your skin, and save you money in the future from potentially having to treat your skin.

What you should always have in your arsenal is a good face wash, a good moisturizer, and some good topical acne products. Other must have products are exfoliants, and a good sunblock.

Wash your face twice a day. Morning, and before going to sleep. If need be, wash it once more middle of the day. But don't over do it. Don't use any harsh soaps. Dove is good enough for washing face. Neutrogena's original face wash is good too. Apply your sunblock daily, before leaving the house. Some sunblocks will make you break out, so you might have to test and try. For me the Avene one worked the best (the orange tube). Topical acne products, if not prescribed by your doc, can be either salicylic acid (5%) or benzoyl peroxide (5-10%) use them religiously. Moisturize during day time with an oil free product. At night, you can apply a very light oil, or use the same moisturizer, depending on how dry your skin feels. And 2-3 times a week exfoliate. There are a million and one things you can use to exfoliate. From the cheapest and easiest (besan made into a simple paste) to the Clarasonic stuff. Lush makes Dark Angels cleanser, it's amazing. If you can get your hands on it, then 10% glycolic acid lotion or peels are very very good too.

But, it's important you do this religiously. You have to. You can't slack off at all!
