hey hey there.. since i am not a doc .. this might be the worst advice u ever get .. but still here it is
try eating foods with no acidity. u might not know but filtered water is acidic where as spring water is not.. so little things can cause . potato is an alkaline food.
its scary because the body is prone to get sick when more acidic. so u might get more sick ..
try to relax .. i dunno if i m imagining but stress also causes acid in the body .
I've been dealing with GERD (gastro-esophagael reflux disease) with my son since he was born 6 years ago. Although it helps to avoid foods with high acidity, it really doesnt make all that much of a difference. He had been on PPIs (proton pump inhibitors) such as prevacid for a while now and these work best for him - his stomach produces less acid due to the meds. There are many other brands - prilosec is one. And there are acid reducers - they neutralize the acid that in your stomach - zantac is the most popular but there's also tums, the chewable minty tablets which dont taste too bad and also provide calcium.
As far as natural supplements, almonds are known to be a natural acid reducer. My son's reflux is far too severe, I mean he'd have to eat a few pounds of these in order for it to help him but if you have a milder case its worth a try.
along with medical treatment u must make lifestyle changes too....
like if u smoke, give up that...
cut down on ur intake of coffee....
avoid oily/deep fried and very spicy food....the typical pakistani food tends to contain a load of spices which can cause heartburn...
lose weight if u r over weight....
dont lie down /go to bed just after u eat....etc....
and seek medical attention if u still haven't...:)
For God's sake, stop talking about "desi nuskhay" and go to a doctor. You need a proton-pump inhibiting drug ASAP.
That is right...something like NEXIUM would offer long term solution
Also try to see if you have an ulcer or not ..a blood test or a breath test can be performed to find out.
It sounds like you went to a doc already and he gave you zantac? And you dont like having to take the zantac pill each day?
Best to keep on with it. The reason is that when you have painful reflux, the acid splashes up into your esophagus - it then gets sore and inflamed. Thats called esohagitus (sorry cant spell it) and its not a good thing! It takes 6 to 8 weeks for your esophagus to heal so you should take the meds for at least that long.
Hyder> Do u have any other symptoms besides acidity? i'm just thinking maybe it could be IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome)... but maybe some saunf panee would help - which is just aniseed boiled in water then drank when its luke-warm.
you can try taking ACV(apple cider vinegar), 1 tablespoon with a glass of warm water, twice a day. it helps u digest better and u dont have any problems with acidity...thts wt my mom did and it worked for her.
