I have bought my bridal outfits from pakistan in such a limited time, and consequently rushed and bought my bridal sets (artificial) which are stunning, but I didn’t get time to get the antique finish polished on. However, when buying a few simple sets earlier on in my visit I was shown by a jewellery store owner a pot of varnish type stuff that they “polish” onto the sets to give the set that antique/copper type finish, and wanted to try it out for myself on my sets!
I have some old pieces of fake gold jewellery which I will try it on first in case it goes horribly wrong, but i haven’t got the foggiest idea what that stuff is they use?? Anyone got any idea?? ANy help would be much appreciated!!!
Re: Achieving an antique finish on an artificial "gold" set.
Ummm..... Don't you have any jewelry shops where you live? I think polishing any piece should be left to professionals. You can still try to polish the old pieces of fake jewelry that you have, no harm in that but do look for someone who can help you out.
What if the varnish leaves stains on your skin or clothes? Surbhi S Gupta talks about Jewelry on EBC Radio 1170 AM. Maybe she can help you. Please feel free to write to her at******[email protected] or [email protected]. Maybe she can help. Don't know for sure, though! but it wouldn't hurt to send off an email.

Posho, I found a few jewelry polishers/shops in Birmingham. I don’t know whether they’d be helpful or not but I am posting their info. You can contact them and ask:

Wow, i just did something like this the other day for my friends wedding this weekend... just get some nail polish remover ( non acetone) rub it over the set with a cotton pad make sure you don't go both way so you do it one direction. leave it in the sun for a few hours and hair spray it to bring the 'chamak' back.
Learnt this tip in pak :) ... if you lived near me i would offer to do it! i enjoy it weirdly enough xx
If it's your wedding sets you're talking about I really wouldn't advise doing anything to them yourself...you live in Birmingham right? There are so many Asian jewellery stores there. Can't you ask them whether they offer the particular polishing service you're after?
