Achaar storage?

I have tried a few brands of Achaar but everytime I get a bottle or a jar of it ,it gets a weird taste and smell after a while even if its within the expiration date.
I tried to keep it in the fridge too once but that doesn’t help either.
I think the oils go bad.
My mom keeps her achaar for over a year sometimes and it tastes good every time.
what happens to mine…?..:frowning:
i mostly use the National brand one.Any suggestions..??

Re: Achaar storage?

do u use a metal spoon to take it out? or do u put left over achaar back in the bottle? or use ur hand to take it out?? :hehe:

if u do any of these then dont!

Re: Achaar storage?

I use a spoon to take it out.And nopes never put it back into the bottle and why would someone dig into a bottle of achaar with their hands...???

Re: Achaar storage?

always use woden or plastic spoon to take achaar out. never ever use metal utensils with vinegary stuff.

sum ppl like to eat achar like jam. straight from the jar u knw wat i mean :hehe:

Re: Achaar storage?

hmmm...follow the above suggestions. Take achar out with a spoon, don't put spoon in jar, and don't use your hands.

I haven't had any problems with achar. We store it in a cabinet instead of a fridge. Or even storing it in a pantry is fine. I've never seen anyone store achar in a fridge. I don't think achar is meant to be eaten cold. Perhaps the temperature is affecting the taste. So, try storing it in your cabinet or pantry. Pickles contain oil and oil

^ So try the above suggestions with a small jar of pickles and see how it goes. You can try another brand as well. How about Ahmed pickles?

Re: Achaar storage?

I tried to keep it in the fridge for a while to prevent the oil from going bad.I otherwise always keep it in the cabinet.
Hmmm I guess I will just try another brand and not use metal spoons...:)

Thanks.

Re: Achaar storage?
