Has anyone here been on accutane? If so, how was it? Was it worth it? Please tell me your experience.

Accutane ----> Birth defects and mental retardation in babies.
Not recommended for pregnant women. She must use two forms of birth control. Meaning thats how bad it is.
Never used it and I am a man..........never been pregnant.:D

I took it couples year back when i had acne....it worked well BUT gave me side effects so i stopped 2-3 weeks before completing my course. I was sitting at a chinese restaurant munching on food and suddenly my bp shot up and i felt as if i was going to die. After that i didnt take a single dose of accutane. Thank God acne issue got solved on its own .....but even if it hadnt i wud never go for such medications. Whats the use of havin a clear skin when your are not going to live lol...

I took a 3-month course about 4 years ago. I had problem with acne for a very long time and nothing worked. So I did some research and went for it. Your doctor normally does some blood test to check your liver functions. Also biggest thing for women is not to take it if they are or thinking of becoming pregnant. I did not have to worry as am a male.
When I finally got it the worst thing I had was very dry skin. But that is a normal side affect.

I took it for 3 months about 5 years ago. At that time my acne was really really severe and the only side effect i remember is extremely dry skin. A couple of months after stopping the treatment, my acne came back like before. I was highly discouraged and opted not to use it again.
I am currently expecting our first child (i wasnt married at the time of the treatment) and hoping that all will be well, inshaAllah.
