What would you suggest for accomodations in Amsterdam for a single guy during the month of August?. I am very particular about a private bathroom and location. It has to be close to the city center. Price range upto $100 a night.

Be careful man.
When I went to Holland, I wanted to go the cheap way and stayed in a hotel for 35 € a night (in Rotterdam).
But that hotel was horrible. So make sure, it is a decent and nice place where you stay, even if you have to pay a few extra bucks.
Bring a tent. The weather is wonderful in August!
