We all can list several accents that we find pleasing to the ears, accents we wish we had, that we can never tire of hearing. But that’s not what we’re gonna do here. Twiddles fingers This thread will be of a more darker nature…
So which accents do you personally find to be be…jarring to the ears…like nails on a chalkboard…that make you wince…that would defo be a deal-breaker even if all other (more desirable) qualities ticked..?
And if you’re feeling especially brave, go ahead and explain the reasoning behind your
I have a strong dislike for austrailian english accent. French being spoken is also bothersome to my ears for some odd reason. Everything else is tolerable.
Alright, ...Ima say it...and risk offending my peoples, my tribe! But here goes...
I don’t like the sound of Urdu that has a very, very thick and heavy, weigh down karne wala Punjabi accent to it. I can handle it if it’s mild. But the stronger it gets, it makes me want to cry.
The super strong Southern drawl. Some find it charming, but I don’t care for that heavy hillbilly twang.
I've had some incredibly rude Russian-Ukrainian colleagues for a long time, so whenever someone argues with me in that accent I get stressed out. Some of my philosophical colleagues during those years used to explain the rudeness as part of the work ethic in that part of the world.

Making fun of someone's accent is fundamentally racist, we should more focus on taking care of ourselves, a clean mouth, a healthy body, good hygiene, good posture, a great walk, dressing properly is all in our control. Taking care of ourselves is hard work and many are not willing to do that and many trying to elevate themselves with irrelevant rubbish.
If someone had a beautiful accent coming out of a rotting mouth, how seggsy would that be?
Bobby, aap bhi to under fire kayi baar aa chuke hain for your stereotypical remarks about Indians and Pakistanis that have always been expressed with a derisive intent.
I might offend some people here but I just can't stand hindified Urdu or thick Indian English Accent... it is like nails on chalkboard to my ears. Much to my dismay, the geeral Pakistani population in Pak has also picked up both from bolly movies so if I ever consume Pakistani media, I stick to watching older Pakistani dramas for my sanity.
Also burger Urdu... Good Lord, that is a nope too.
In all humbleness though, my Urdu sucks too so there is that!
Trend in Pakistani TV shows / YouTube videos speaking the street language (hindified Urdu) in trashy foreign (hindi) accents they learn from foreign movies. That's not just like nails on chalkboard to my ears but also like I have swallowed something rotten unknowingly & I need to puke it all out but can't. I block those channels / videos from reappearing in my recommendations because that trend is spreading fast in Pakistan where speaking decently in clear, formal Urdu used to be normal.
