ACADAMIC CREDITIBILITY OF ONLINE COURSES?

Ok Now read with new title ???

Googling for Online Degree/Diploma courses hundreds of Universities/Institutions come across which confuses a person , which to select ?

Due to Work restriction and COmfort too , I think some time , I should proceed for some online Masters courses.

Like MBA (Finance) or Engineering Management etc.

But some questions do halt me ,

  1. Do online courses/Degrees has that value like its name ?
I Mean How it appears on our resume , i.e How an Employer will value that course?

  2. In case one wants to pursue for some online Degree course , which are the known and acrideted universities available ?

Hope find knowledgfull views

Re: ACADAMIC CRIDIBILITY OF ONLINE COURSES?

engrshami, this topic has been discussed multiple times in this forum. If you do a search, you'll find many viewpoints on this.

For a short reply, I'd say that you need to make sure that the institution you're selecting is not purely virtual... i.e. they do have a physical campus where courses and programs are offered, and the online medium is just another format of an otherwise vibrant program that is offered on campus. This will give some semblance of credibility to your degree.

Also, make sure that the program is accredited by the appropriate standards body... in case of MBA, the AACSB or EQUIS.

Finally, before you make a decision, it will help to get some idea about the acceptability of these degrees in your professional circle as well as with potential employers.

Personally, I would opt for a part-time program that takes longer to finish than an online program that might be more convenient to pursue. There are just too many things you miss out on in an online graduate program where a lot of value is derived from other colleague's experiences.

So that is why my first thread found no reply , since I am a bit new at GS plus I did not go for search.

I have Equally considered this option , I agree with you that i may be some exhaustive but still bears good features.

Thanks LC
