This is quite prevalent in another faith…but just wondering…

Depends what kind of 'abuse' we are talking about it.
For example, getting a few slaps from the molvi cos you're not concentrating on reading Qu'ran used to be quite common back in the day. It's not allowed now cos there's laws to protect kids from this kind of thing, but that's not to say it doesn't still happen.

he is talking about cases like when qari molested two girls......

may be that is one of few incidents but i respect islamic scholars and inshallah will....

i donno about pakistan but i can assure that in india hafiz-e-quran earns less than labours working in farms.....

but still they try hard to lead their life according to shariah...

sinners like us always criticizing them for small shartfalls on their part.........

Thank God my parents didn't send me to a Madrassa despite being quite religious. But from what i have heard its does happen and it happens more frequently among the children than by the teachers.

Its happened here in the UK with the families of the victims hushing it up to " save face".

Some doctors are abusing medical profession, touching their female patience inappropriately. Should we slam all the doctors then?

I personally had a very very bad experience with Moulvis.. yes everyone of them.. beatings, threats.. I wish I could go in details but lets just not. I do believe though not everyone is bad, I am sure there are some good ones out there!

There are bad potatoes everywhere.

Every religion has religious figures who have used (or misused) the authority. Taking advantage is a bit easier for religious authorities.

Thats why I used the term in quotation marks , which can be read as ''so called religious leaders''

Yes i have..and so as students who use to be in madrassa with me when i was 7 years old. Children from 7 - 10 used to get beating very brutally. Adult slap..enough to keep red mark for the whole day. Beating with bamboo sticks taken from tree. Once this "teacher" so proudly said that he was walking by..and saw the tree with good wood to beat all of us. Did i mention..they would put electric tape on that wood..so it hurts more. Once get beating like an animal..if ya get bruised you suppose to hide it and not show it your parents. And if parents got to know their son got beaten this bad..they would visit madrassa and scold qari and as soon as father leaves..then he is beaten much worst.
Ladies and gentleman..this is not Pakistan i am talking about. Saudia Arabia!. The problem is no one speaks out. And i made promise to myself..if i meet these teachers once again in my life then..i would most likely get back to them accordingly! O..and also..sexual abuse by these teachers to young boys. Quiet rampant!..
