Re: Abu Dhabi signs $5 billion oil refinery deal with Pakistan
And I just mean to say that if the UAE people want to establish a hazardous industry so close to them, they should rethink it as they will also bear the consequences.
Mostar it's not UAE government.....it's a business group from Abu Dhabi....I know a lot of Dubai gossip and can tell you there are ten others who also want to go for this kill>>>
......and we have a lot of zameer faroosh in our country who have the potential of going to any extent to facilitate them for their own petty gains>>>

Yes that's right. But even these business group and those zameer faroosh live on this planet. They should rethink.

N. Wazirastan schools are back open, and Swati jahil jiahdis are behing whooped.
Off course anarchists and Ben-Ladenies are unhappy.
Obl, I havent heard you commenting on this post. Arabos are willing to deal with Pakistanis and yet this is the same government, who provides resistance against Jihadis (Arab sponsored). Abh kya howa?
Definately a good move, but will there be no negative impression. The situation in Pak is very critical. It may effect deals and economic growth. No one cares about that.
Re: Abu Dhabi signs $5 billion oil refinery deal with Pakistan
Can you enlightment me what development we have from this project.....our govt. is giving 1000 acres of prime land near Bin Qasim free of cost.....worth about a billion dollars.....we are not going to recieve any taxes for 20 years....and it's unlikely the junkyard refinery will be running after 20 years.....crude will be imported and reexported leaving behind poisonous gases....what economic benefit you see from this particular project as a refinery is not even a very big employer of human resource>>>
As far as India is concerned they have very stringent envoirnmental regulations in place which are being followed strictly. Still there are refineries being set up there but all these are new modern refineries with all sort of envoirnmental protections in place....unlike the refineries we are allowing which were set up may be 30/40 years ago somewhere in the world and are being dismantled for being hazardous to envoirnment>>>
Employment my friend, employment.
Employment is the BASIS of growth and whenever a new plant is established in any citry ot town all the are around the plant/industry get benefits of it. Giving land for cheap or giving tax holiday is a normal practice all over the world to lure the investors just to get people employed.
For example Just last year my state (NC) was able to lure DELL to establish their plants in NC and gave DELL 20 years and in return DELL agreed to employee 1000 people by end of 2010
I can go on listing the example of this normal practice but that will not help if you are criticizing for the sake of criticism. Open your eyes and give the credit where its due!

Re: Abu Dhabi signs $5 billion oil refinery deal with Pakistan
Indeed. Just imagine the economic boom this will create. Foundation of which are being laid now, under the leadership of President Pervaiz Musharaf. :k:
Re: Abu Dhabi signs $5 billion oil refinery deal with Pakistan
As I have said before it is important that we see no disturbance in the sustained economic growth seen during the last 8 years under Musharraf, and the unprecedented infrastructural development that we have winessed all over Pakistan.

Unfortunately the lefties and anarchists in Pakistan have a tendency to ruin what is developed so painstakingly by one government.
We saw sustained growth during President Ayub Khan's time. Sadly all that was destroyed by the Commie-leftie Bhutto and Mujib.
We saw some glimpses of good development during Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's time. And guess what BB destroyed it all.
Now we have had some decent growth, and BB is back to her Kalay kartoot again.
Re: Abu Dhabi signs $5 billion oil refinery deal with Pakistan
^ Musharraf response was : He is (trying to) become as a civilian president, and as in politics it make sense to make friends with THE BIGGEST political party. If people stop **democratically **supporting PPP, he wouldn't have to take that step.

Abu Dhabi signs major refining deal with Pakistan
Abu Dhabi is planning to invest up to $6 billion to set up a refinery in Pakistan with a capacity of 200,000 barrels per day as part of an ongoing overseas downstream push aimed at diversifying its oil-reliant economy. The government-owned International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC), the Gulf Emirate’s downstream investment arm, signed a memorandum of understanding with Pakistan 's Minister of Petroleum Firaq Qayum in Islamabad in mid November. “The refinery will be set up in Khalifa Point and will have a capacity of 200,000 barrels crude oil per day. The project is estimated to cost between $5 billion to $6 billion," IPIC said in a statement. **Officials said it would be the largest single foreign direct investment (FDI) ever made in Pakistan, adding that FDI from the UAE into Pakistan stood at $800 million out of a total $8 billion received by Pakistan last year. **The IPIC will hold a 76% stake in the project, while the Pak-Arab Refinery Company will have 24% in the crude oil refinery company - Khalifa Coastal Refinery (KCR). The KCR will be built at a strategic location along the coast of the Arabian Sea near Hub in Balochistan province of Pakistan .
The Pakistan government has already allocated 2,000 acres and the area will be called Khalifa Point - named after President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. **Construction of the mammoth project is expected to start in January next year. Production is slated to start in December 2012.
