Of course it's not legal to drive 159 km/h. The maximum speed allowed on UAE highways is 120 km/h. The speed cameras in Dubai take a snap if you exceed that by 20 km/h, ie at 140 km/h. However the speed cameras in Abu Dhabi are a bit more "tolerant". They will take a pic at 160 km/h.
I guess that's why Aisha sees 159 as "legal speed".

i've tested some 'middle-eastern' version of cars and every single one of them had a 'beeping' mechanism at 120.. so is that co-relating the 120km/hr speed limit?
so.. 160km/hr = 100mph has nothing to do with anything, dubai will let u have it for 139 km/hr and abu.dhabi will let u have it till 159 ?
Yes is co-related. For some reason they thought it would stop people from speeding. In fact what most people do is, they have that beeper removed when they buy a new car. There are certain workshops that do that.
No, it has nothing to do with miles vs. km. It’s just the setting of the speed cams.
we (north america = united states+canada) has a different system .. more dangerous, and only partial…
we have ‘governors’ on leased/rental vehicles and majority of ‘north-american’ versions .. they are electronic circuits, attached within the car’s electronic system .. and their threshold is like 170, 180…
[added] and lanati thing is dangerous, because if u’re speeding upto that threshold point, and u dont know the level governor is gonna kick into, the rpm drops to lowest-possible level… (as if u’re parked/neutral gear)
if the car is purchased/financed from the start, then chances are there won’t be a governor in it..
We will try our best to see you people in Dubai in Iftaar , Insha Allah
I think the Only Medium Point for Us Dubai and Abu Dhabi Guppies is Al Ain , and may Most of us have not seen Al Ain , and Alain is Unique in many Respects , why not we all Dubai and AUH people come to Alain and Join our Lonely Member Poppies there.
How it sounds , I think Justfull.
