Re: Absurdity Continues
CJ let the asswipes from lal masjid go free. but oh yeah they were shareef bacchay and angels came and killed the commandos.
CJ did not let anyone from Lal masjod go free.
The two judges, Nawaz Abbasi and Faqir Khokhar, who set some of them free have taken oath under the PCO and now sitting in SC.
Re: Absurdity Continues
Pyarigudia (nice name btw) - why does it surprise you? With so many people taking pot shots at him constantly, musharaf cannot focus on the mission to masticate the jihadis. So he has to gain some peace and quite - in doing so I don't think he'll have the bandwidth to discriminate amongst various personalities. Instructions will have to be in general such as "arrest anyone who dissents or create a ruckus or potential to do so".
Doesn't mean I agree with musharaf but I do think CJ BB et all are simply running wedge issues to save their backsides being prosecuted for major corruption and Musharaf is paying for being too nice to them in the past

Warning: The Following Rant may cause some indigestion of the facts. Proceed with caution
Okay. I am all for Musharraf's philosophy on extremists. When he went military on Lal masjid goons, I sided with him. I said he was correct. I still stand by that.
Here's what I don't agree with, and I am so MAD that this is happening, all in the name of emergency.
If you're going to get on TV and tell me that you're suspending constitutional law and firing a bunch of judges so that you can fight the terrorists more easily, then FINE. But then do what you're going to say. I wanted to wake up this morning, and find top profile terrorists being caught and arrested, or running for the mountains to share a dhoti with Osama Bin Laden and the rest of the NutJob Team. I did NOT want to wake up this morning and find that peaceful protestors are in jail and under house arrest. I did not want to see journalists and lawyers and human right activists getting jailed. Lawyers, I could have tolerated to some degree - sometimes they need a good kick in the arse anyway. But journalists? HUMAN RIGHTS ACTIVISTS?????
Asma Jehangir is under house arrest. Apart from criticizing the government in their moves regarding Lal Masjid (mainly on how they waited it out to use it in their favor because they were in political heat), she hasn't really done that much damage to Mush. So why is she under house arrest?
Why are terrorists not under house arrest? Why aren't MMA officials who have been instrumental in spreading Islamic fitna in the NWFP under house arrest? Its because of them that little girls are being banned from school, that polio vaccines have been deemed a conspiracy to population control, and musicians in a musically rich pukhtoon culture have been repressed. Those fanatics should be under house arrest, not civilians who simply report the news and who advocate for human rights.
VERY DISAPPOINTING, Mr. Musharraf, VERY DISAPPOINTING.
I had better open up the newspaper tomorrow, and instead of seeing pictures of jaahil police beating the crap out of peaceful protestors, see police beating the crap out of terrorists who want everyone to go back to living in 600 A.D.
Asma is under house arrest. That's where I draw the line, and Musharraf crossed it.
shukar hai..aap nai bhee akhir Musharraf kee mukhalfat kar hee dee...:)

That would make perfect sense, except they've raided houses of people who were sitting in their homes during all this to arrest them. You want to raise someone creating a racket out in the streets, then do so. But why target specific people who might be sitting mum during the emergency?
This means, that if I have at any point in the past, criticized the government, and I am sitting in my home peacefully waiting out the emergency, then I might have police knocking on my door, coming in withuot warrant, abusing me and my family, and carrying me out. Possibly looting my house - knowing these police wallay.
That's a gross violation of human rights!
I'm against terrorism, and my point is that if you're making public statements that this is for the terrorism activities in NWFP, then target those people. Don't abuse your educated westernized middle class, and meanwhile Pakistani flags are being replaced by Taliban flags in Swat!
That doesn't make any sense!
Re: Absurdity Continues
so hopefully the approach is goign to be along this lines
1) politicians who seem to get a bleeding heart for anyone teh govt is against are limited, so they cant create unrest ..remember what MMA folks did when the lal masjid terrorists got the ass kicking that they so richly deserved? they were cutting theri own deals, blasting military as it was engaged in that situation etc
2) same goes for media, certain news channels reported very irresponsibly, and were basically calling one terrorst shaheed and the other a hero etc.
3) both the politicians and the media thus create publci unrest, especially ina place like pakistan where ppl get riled up at small crap and burn cars and fast food places.
4) once this is under control, the ass kicking of the militants will begin, with no one to use that as political currency against the military.
or this is atleast what I am hoping for :)
Re: Absurdity Continues
I hope so too.
Re: Absurdity Continues
hmmm ![]()
so puttin asma under house arrest is crossing the line? there are no holy cows when it comes to remaining in power. no dissent of any kind is being allowed at the moment.
Re: Absurdity Continues
Is that what's needed right now? No dissent? Is that the smartest move? You have terrorists literally overthrowing the government as we speak, and they don't want the media channels on? I guess shutting them down temporarily might be less work than regulating everything they're reporting. The downside to that is that no one in the country knows what's going on.
If they are capturing terrorists, we don't have a clue.
Re: Absurdity Continues
like i said, the priority of musharraf right now is to remain in power. everything else comes after, be it civil liberties or capturing terrorists.
Re: Absurdity Continues
heard it on CNN, asma jehangir, some human rights chick, had it best and to the point "mushy is beating and arresting the secularists while negotiating with the terrorists"

Well actually Mushy is the ONE to provide growth hormones to Terrorists, while actually enjoying the mujras with MMA's and MMQ (terrorists?!?!?) types of.
Re: Absurdity Continues
why the sudden indignation when middleclass pseudo-intellectuals and outlaw lawyers are being targeted ? and that too with tear gas and batons ....you had no sympathy when the same govt was killing people in NWFP in an attempt to hunt some alleged terrorists
