Yes , my posts were also removed and khanbabax posts were also removed without any prior notice....or wrnings... I discussed with one of the Mod of this forum(as i will not disclose his name) and he sugeested me to contact the Ehsan Bhai....manager GS as he is a very nice man and will listen to it with attention... infact the thread was about the BBC report of the iraq violence that we hear everyday about the 30 40 bodies fond in bafhdad handcuffed anf tortured are all sunnis killed by al-badr brigade , a sub group of mahdi malysia of muqdad ul sadr ... now this was removed alongwith 3 post.......
CAn anybody give the id of ehsan bhai so that we can contact him personally... and he can look into the matter freely and authoritatively...
Re: Absurd moderation practices
Jaan Leva, whether your post is in response to something else, is just a trivial matter.
The subject matter at hand is the way you address other people, be it in response to their posts or a de novo by yourself.
Just to give you a hypothetical example, which actually isn't very far from reality.
Backgroud: Someone makes a post or starts a thread.....with normal use of words....with the intent of having a discussion.....without any judgemental remarks.
Enter: His royal highness Jaan Leva, Esquire
The aforementioned dignity starts to abuse everyone and everything in the thread without any sound argument and starts calling names
Result: The aforementioned dignity is completely dumbfounded at being issued a warning
Re: Absurd moderation practices
addendum:
Having been a mod for quite a long time now, based on my experience I can tell that usually the people who come in Feedback Forum and start complaining about their warnings, were actually warned rightfully.
And those who don't reply to their warning or try to settle the matter via PM in a respectful way are actually regularly right if they feel their warning was wrong. And as a matter of fact I've even deleted warnings after mutual consideration and understanding via PM
Re: Absurd moderation practices
Nescio, thats a nice fairy tale... anybody can put a scenario together and make the other person "the bad" guy.
Let's discuss what really happened? If my reply was considered "offensive" the mod had no brain to judge or see what I replied to was also offensive? I made clear in my reply that if you don't like what I just said then watch what the user posts... yet it was ignored. Isn't the mod there to judge and make the RIGHT decision rather than shutdown/block the person REACTING to what was already posted by a SHIA user?
If I curse you... and then you reply back, should I be ignored while your reply is deleted and you are warned? I would think gupshup would have smarter mods but it seems most of the shia mods have some type of complex when it comes to those who complain about their stupid and asinine way of moderating.
PS: I have sent PMs to the mods on MULTIPLE occasions yet no reply... it seems they perform their little ritual and then hide in some hole or something so spare me the innocent attitude.
Re: Absurd moderation practices
Jaan leva you need to calm down a bit. As they say in urdu "iss hamam mein sub nangay hain". The sectarian fights in there are despicable to say the least and whenever anyone gets warned even that is seen from a sectarian point of view. It is a very difficult job to mod that forum and sectarian bigots don't make the jobs of the mods any easier. Mods do try their best, but it is easy to blame the mods for everything. Kabhi kabar aapni addaon per bhi ghau kar liya karein.
Wouldn't it be nice if we all are Muslims first and anything else second. If only.
Re: Absurd moderation practices
eshan, thank you for your reply.
Exactly. I want to know if the other user was also warned or not. If he was, then we can close the thread and if he was not then we have an issue which needs to be resolved... and the issue is not sectarian bigots but the mod which choose NOT to warn the user (i dont know) who made the divisive comments which prompted me to make a reply. It could have been anybody, khanbabax also made a reply to that user because we all felt it was offensive and not needed but this situation begs the question again: Was the other user warned and in what manner? Lame post?
I am all for unity but not when im backstabbed by same people who sing the unity song.
Thanks again!
Re: Absurd moderation practices
Leva, a couple a things;
1) FYI, Mods are not required to inform anyone except the individual themselves that they have been warned as such. So whether anyone else was warned or not, is frankly none of you're business.
2) Whether you initiated it or merely responding to someone else, you're equally responsible for what you say eitherway.
3) As for the reasoning, i could have easily written, 'lewd, offensive,
cheap, ignorant, shallow and many other adjectives, but i think 'lame post' sums it all up pretty nicely.
4) You threw around accusations of favouritism and grudges when you havent the slightest clue how the others were dealt with. what id like to know is, if you're not privy to the warning logs, then on what basis are you sitting here throwing a hissy fit eh?
Perhaps next time you feel like chucking toys out of the pram, you should listen to the 'peasants' around here, because unlike some, they actually had a valid point from the start...
