yaar kidaaN! Prolly some 10 years ago when I was in school back in Pak...those were the days I still remember. Those days are gone a long ago. Now its future that can bring the feelings back, hardwork will pay off one day inshallah ;)
khair....I don't have paints and brush now although I was a brilliant diagram maker :) during my schooling time but this abstract thing is way beyond that. Here is an idea that for a long time in my mind but i won't be able to do it as I like, as I don't possess enough talent with oil paints and colors. This cannot be expressed in a pencil scetch othewise I would have made it myself.
Highlights/foreground:A man sitting under a huge tree with his back on its stem. The Shadow of this tree is visible and it is what the man was seeking to rest.
Theme: He is right in his half of his life times. He is actually a hardworker who has earned a lot from other's perspective, but there is something lacking in his life....and what it is, he doesn't know.
Comulative expressions: From the first half of life that he has spend...1. He has achievements of his life 2. something lacking but not known to him. The other half of his life or the future...1. A direction and his determination for it 2. A high hope and little worries about the obstacles which may come in his remaining life.
Forground is there, but what should be in the background to tally the theme is what I am looking for or want to see in a painter's work.
The theme is protected by Copyright law for smooth_guy :)

okay, now this character seems really lonely at this point of his life. and u metioned that the drawing shows his back.... is the character sometimes afraid to face the realities of life? i don't know why i'm asking this, but it just came into my mind... as this particular drawing gives an image of a whole story of that main character! who probably needs some companion now, since he has spent a lot of his life on his own.

so the tree is probably on a hill of some mountain... so the only thing the viewer can see is the tree, its shade on the ground, that man's back and the sky...

no girl.......as i said he is relaxing under the tree so his back and head are supported by the tree. His back is not facing us, neither he is looking at anywhere since his eyes are close too. Let say he is facing at the right of us in a 45 angel. Not straigt to us and neither its a side pose.
you know when we get really tired we sit down on a chair or sofa and close our eyes and lie our head on the back support. This is exactly what the feelings are of this man.
So he is tired and with close eyes he is thinking of his past and the future as I mentioned in my post. Those things are inside of him and we have to express them in the background and wherever. The only objects that we have are a huge tree, its shadow underneath and the man relaxing. The object could be in a field, farm, on a hill or anything that will help elobrating the theme. Companion is definetly what he would be looking to share all this....but that is no where on the canvas for now.
so are u thinking of drawing this?

well as the main thing is the man and the tree then the background should have something that won't make the guy and the tree just vanish somewhere..they should be prominent... so i guess a plain evening sky would do...
