There is no contradiction here.
Allah (swt) has taken the preservation of Quran unto Himself once the message was complete.
It’s Allah’s prerogative to ‘abrogate or cause it to be forgotten’ while the Quran was in process of being revealed. Once done with it will be preserved forever.
