Abrar's a singer, and should be entitled to artistic freedom like any singer singing in any langauge should have. However local Pashtun singers are not exactly encouraged in any way by the provincial or federal governments. And singers in langauges like Chitrali, Pashtu, baluchi and other languages are at a serious disadvantage because there audience is smaller. At a regional event the focus should have been promoting regional acts. Like I said it was the Governor and his people's incompetence that created this mess.
The Governor is a Hindko speaker from Kohat for those who asked, his preference for Kohati hindko speakers in appointments and Punjabi/Urdu over pashto is well known in Sarhad.
I agree with you that local singers should be encouraged with no qualms, but there's no reason why Abrar should be excluded unless the local population specifically don't want him there.
If they don't then fine, I agree, it's pointless him going there. All regions deserve autonomy so that the wishes of the locals are served. Some local customs do need to be cracked down on though as we've seen in the Panchayat case.
Xtreme. Are you kidding me? Abrar should be BANNED from setting foot outside of Punjab. He should be made King of Punjab, I don't care. We get enough of him through PTV thank you.
And the Panchayat case should be handeled by South Punjab/Seraikistan government, not Islamabad or Karachi. It makes sense.
I think if it weren't for his nice and tuney songs, he would have been banned quite earlier then that.
Although he seems to do a lot of charity work from his songs which is an excelent thing but as far as some of his songs are concerned they are down right cheap and always controversial. But all of that has been unnoticed because of his catchy tunes.
I think this case is a good nudge on him in the right direction.

Thats the whole issue, its a simple matter of having a stupid incompetent governor. Nothng to do with anti Pakistani, or racist, ethnic issues. The organisers should be given a good telling of and something offered to the locals in return. But there shouldnt be a case against Abrar, some might think he's a awful singer and his songs are cheap and pathetic, but that's no reason to file case against him.
