Abortion - in - Islam?

Salam all.

Ok the question is not whether abortion is allowed or not in islam.

Of course it is not permissible but with few exceptions.

One is that if it hasnot developed in to a fetus/embryo or 40days have not passed then abortion can be done? if that is true then abortion can be done under those circumstances for any reasons???

Or the condition of fetus/embryo, 40 days doesnot matter…a lady just cannot have abortion once she is pregnant???

I’ll support this with a scenario to help you guys understand my question better ‘so there is lady who gets pregnant. she is only two weeks or less than a week pregnant or at a stage where its still an egg/sperm in her vagina. and she decides to get an abortion purely because she is not ready yet, does not want the kid etc etc.’…will this be counted to a murder or not??? (bearing in mind that no life i.e. fetus/embryo has been developed)

Would appreciate if someone can throw light on this and if possible with Quran references.

Thanks a lot.

Re: Abortion - in - Islam?

once conception takes place it's Haraam to abort it unless there is danger to the life of the mother...that's my view!

I agree with Khalil bhai. No abortion is allowed except in special circumstances and those u already mentioned.

Peace blessed 2006,

When that lady knows that she's in her two weeks i.e. pregnant so it is considered 'haraam' to do abortion unless there is a genuine reason i.e. life theat either for one of them or both.
