So, one of our relatives, just few days ago she came to know she was pregnant, despite of using BCP , according to her. Anyhow, now she says she would go for abortion since she says her husband is still unemployed & there are more issues like visa for baby, etc.
In such a case, would abortion be okay? Will Allah forgive abortion in such a case? What does Islam say about abortion? Please clarify.
according to Islamic teachings, since Allah has promised sustenance and life is a sacred trust, aborting a fetus is Haraam and it’s equal to murder…the rest is up to the individual. abortion is allowed ONLY in cases where woman’s life is in danger.
Almighty Allah SWT appoints an angel in the womb of mother who writes by the order of Almighty Allah about the baby that how he/she will be live his/her life in this world. Please tell to your relatives as written below. Hope this will help them to take decision. Moreover, as Khalil bhai said its haraam to do abortion. Don’t lose the hope from Almighty Allah, HE have written something better for you which we don’t understand.
Both these verses seems to convey the same message but on scrutiny we realize that the first verse is meant for poor parents, who fear that if one more child is born in the family neither they will be able to survive nor the child, thus Allah SWT says we provide sustenance for you and for them. In the other verse Allah SWT says We shall provide sustenance for them and as well as for you, referring to rich parents who feel that if they have less children they can concentrate on them better and give them better education and quality life. Here Allah SWT reverses the order and mentions first the children and then the parents.
However, its worth notable that one never knows which child could be a blessing from the Creator for the family. It is quite possible that the child, which the parents anticipate to be a bane, may turn out to be a boon for the family and the society. History bears witness to the fact that many of the great scientists, thinkers, and revolutionaries were not from only amongst the first two children of their parents.
Thus the child whom the parents consider unwanted may be a blessing to the family religiously and economically.
Besides, even if one faces difficulties in upbringing of children, one should always remember that in these hardships could be a test from Allah as this life is a test for the hereafter.
I heard some scholars think up to 50 which is when the heart first beats and is believed by some when the soul is put into the babies body. Considering the reason they choose to have an abortion isn’t very strong i think it would be better for them not to have an abortion.
There is a hadith about 40 days too - some early people interpreted it as 40+40+40 = 120 days, but we now know that it could just as well mean 40 days (divided by 3 equal parts) which makes it fit more snugly with the observed timings … Week 6 is the range between (35 days to 42 days)
I have actually seen a reference where one hadith in Muslim states 40 or 50 days so you are also okay in what you said. For more info:
