In Holy Quran, Allah says:
Do not destroy a life that Allah has declared sacred except for just cause. (25:69)
Allah Ta ala says in the Quran:
Life is from a decree of my Lord. (Sura 12 verse 85)
the above verse is self explanatory on the sanctity and
significance of life.
Generally every decree is from Allah Taala but the
honour of attribution increases its sanctity and
demands its highest level of reference.
This command is mentioned in many verses of the Quran:
Allah Ta ala says:
"Whosoever has spared the life of a soul, it is as though he
has spared the life of all people. Whosoever has killed a soul,
it is as though he has murdered all of mankind."
(sura 5 verse 32)
The fact that every one soul is equivalent to all of mankind clearly indicates the value of every life.
The above should suffice to express the sanctity of the Rooh (life).
It is not permissible under any circumstances to destroy a rooh.
The jurists have mentioned the life enters the foetus upon 120 days. From then onwards the foetus is a living human being.
Under no circumstances will it be permissible to abort the child.
Allah Taala in his infinite knowledge knows the circumstances,
inspite of Him Being Most Merciful, He has endowed the foetus
with life.
Can our deficient mercy to abort the child be compared to Allah Ta ala s Infinite Mercy to sustain the child.
The heights of His Infinite Wisdom cannot be reached or
comprehended.
The importance of the biggest problem in the circumstances
cannot be equivalent to the importance of the Rooh (life).
It is too dear to be discarded. Before 120 days too, it is not
permissible to abort the child.
However, it may be permissible to abort before 120 days in the following instances:
1) Rape
2) Incest
3) Sexual interference with the mentally retarded
4) Foetal deformity for eg. anencephacy (no brain)
5) Foetal deformity for eg. congenital rubella health.

Anyone know about Christian Views on Abortion??
Christian groups differ on their viewpoint. It ranges from absolutely NO abortion under ANY circumstances to abortion anytime and any reason.
In the Bible we find that in the laws God gave Moses, the living person was valued more than the unborn baby, e.g. different punishments if one is killed as well as inheritance laws. The unborn baby had limited rights. (The same way the rights of slaves were reduced) Other than that, God does not make a destiction on the age/period of the unborn baby's rights.
In fact, how hard it does seem, it seem that the only abortion that can be truly justified from the Bible Scriptures is when it threatens the life of the pregnant woman. A very small case can be made out for the case where the baby might be born with deformalities and severe mental problems (the argument being that giving life always has it's risk to the mother and the unborn baby does not stand a good change of living).
In any other case (including rape or incest) there is no Scriptural permission, hard as it seems.
The Hanafi school (predominant in Turkey, the Middle East and Central Asia) allows abortions to take place principally until day 120; some jurists restrict this provision to “good cause”, e.g. if the mother is still nursing an infant and fears that her milk may run out during the new pregnancy. In aborting up to day 120, the woman commits a mere moral transgression, not a crime. The Shafi school (Southeast Asia, southern Arabia, parts of East Africa) allows abortions to be performed up to day 120. For the Maliki school (prevalent in North and Black Africa) an abortion is permissible with the consent of both parents up to day 40; it is no longer allowed after that. For the Hanbali school (predominant in Saudi Arabia and United Arabic Emirates) abortions are principally prohibited from day 40 onward.
The Hanafi and Shafi scholars draw their verdict from the following Hadith.
**Indeed, the creation of each one of you is brought together in the mother's belly for 40 days in the form of a drop of sperm, then he is a germ-cell for a like period, then an embryonic lump for a like period, then there is sent to him the angel who blows the breath of life into him *& who is commanded about four matters: to write down his means of livelihood, his life span, his actions and whether happy or unhappy By Allah, other than whom there is no God, one of you may behave like the people of paradise until there is but an arm's length between him and it, and that which has been written overtakes him and so he behaves like the people of hell fire and thus he enters it; and one of you behaves like the people of hell fire until there is but an arm's length between him and it, and that which has been written overtakes him and so he behaves like the people of paradise and thus he enters it." *
( Related by Al Bukhari & Muslim.)
This Hadith makes it clear that a concieved baby has no no life, no soul, and is just a chunk of meat until 120 days after conception. At that point, aborting would be the taking of a life and hence murder.
The Hanbali and Maliki scholars argue that the above Hadith is weak, and instead base their view on the following Hadith.
*In every one of you, all components of your creation are gathered together in your mothers’ womb by 40 days. *
(Narrated in Saheeh Muslim and Al-Bukhaari).
The one exception to both these cases that I have read about, is where continuing with pregnancy after 120 or 40 days (depending on fiqh) would pose a severe threat to the life of the mother and risk killing her.
thanks a lot Wise One, The Old Man and MAd Scientist :)
