Re: Abida, Fakhar announce to join Pakistan People's Party
As you will have noticed, he ignored your point...because it is true, and he simply has nothing to say in reply, except stupid remarks that have nothing to do with the topic
Re: Abida, Fakhar announce to join Pakistan People's Party
You are a good poster but you are not making any sense here, as ZA Bhutto has nothing to do with this scenario (I actually admire Bhutto, and do admit hes the best politician we ever had), but thats the past. He isnt praising Chaudhry Shujaat etc. The way I look at it, we have alot of crooked politicians, and you cant really let one guy (no matter what he is, civilian, army walla) do a good job alone, and he has to throw a bone to certain chamchaz to keep them quiet. This is precisely what Mushy did with Shujaat and co. and they are happy and loyal, and do not cause any hinderance, and this I believe is the best option we have, at this time.
Also, I know you are a PPP supporter, how do you feel about these two new additions to the party?
Re: Abida, Fakhar announce to join Pakistan People's Party
spock: you asked earlier about tehmina daultana and abida. Abida is from jhang and so is faisal hayat their rivalry is quite old and nasty. I believe faisal was at one time rumoured to be on the short list to marry benazir. Abida on the other hand was the one who opened contact between leghari and nawaz before the government was dismissed. She was also one of the first to actively oppose nawaz in 1999, so when musharraf took over he first went to people like her and mian azhar.

Old dogs, same tricks.
Abida in US to ‘test the waters’
Syed Abida Hussain, who recently announced her entry and that of her husband Fakhar Imam, into the Pakistan People’s Party, arrived in New York at the weekend and plans to be in Washington later in the week to “test the waters”. Hussain, who was ambassador here during the first term of Nawaz Sharif, is going to look up several of her political and diplomatic contacts. “She has a lot of friends in this town,” a senior figure at a major think tank said. The main purpose of her visit is to impress upon the administration, legislators and other figures of influence the fact that the forthcoming elections in Pakistan must be transparent. She told Daily Times from New York that the old tactics of “allotting” seats and predetermining results is simply not going to work this time.
Re: Abida, Fakhar announce to join Pakistan People’s Party
It seems even govt ministers are looking into joining the PPP now-
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) will contest the 2007 general elections as a pro-Musharraf party because Benazir Bhutto is a wise politician and wants to maintain relations with the establishment, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr Sher Afgan Niazi said on Friday.
Talking to reporters at Parliament House, Niazi claimed that Benazir Bhutto was willing to take him back in the PPPP on his terms. He defended his decision of joining the Pakistan Muslim League and said that all members of the Pakistan People’s Party-Patriots from the Punjab would join the ruling party.
Commenting on the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal’s (MMA) announcement that the religious alliance would resign from parliament in protest against the passage of the Women’s Protection Act, Niazi said that the MMA would not quit the assemblies. “Maulana Fazlur Rehman is a prudent politician who does not take decisions under the influence of sentiments,” he said.
Niazi said that the government would present a new bill on women’s rights in the next session of the National Assembly and the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) would be asked to give its opinion on the bill. He said that the MMA targeted the Federal Shariat Court and the CII because it wanted participation in the two institutions, but the government did not want to politicise these institutions. “Only judges and competent scholars are included in the two institutions and the government will not allow individuals with political affiliations to join them,” said Niazi. The parliamentary affairs minister said that the Supreme Court had formed a larger bench to hear the case of clerics’ madrassa sanads (degrees). online http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=2006\12\09\story_9-12-2006_pg1_3
Re: Abida, Fakhar announce to join Pakistan People’s Party
All will be clear within 2 months i.e. mid-February, believe me.
But it will be good to see the PPP-P fighting the next election as the “pro-Musharraf” party, and some stalwarts of that party have already started referring to him a “President General…”, and gone is all the anti-military rhetoric as well. BB will be content on becoming the Pakistani Sonia Gandhi, if you know what I mean.
Re: Abida, Fakhar announce to join Pakistan People’s Party
Thank you. Now what did I say in my pevious post.
Benazir wants APC postponed till February
The proposed all parties conference (APC) being organised by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to unite opposition parties at one platform appears to be in peril after Benazir Bhutto requested a postponement. Sharif has been trying to hold the APC in the second week of January, but the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairwoman has asked him to postpone it to the first week of February 2007, sources told Daily Times. In the last two days, Sharif has spoken to opposition leaders Qazi Hussain Ahmad, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Allama Sajid Naqvi, Asfand Yar Wali, Mehmood Achakzai and Imran Khan, and Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) Chairwoman Asma Jehangir to invite them to the APC. Sources said that Naqvi, chairman of the Pakistan Islami Tehreek, had also asked that the APC be held after Ashura so he could attend the conference. If the conference were held earlier, someone else would represent Naqvi.
