The problem with ‘centrists’ is that social justice may be part of their rhetoric, but their actions are essentially about protecting the status quo, and a privileged establishment. Tony Blair was a centrist but he did not do anything to improve social inequality, and I feel Macron is going the same way.
You can get famous, earn more political support and get into the echelons of power more easily by trumping up a more moderate agenda but it will never lead to any significant societal change or breaking up of the same-old same-old political establishment.
You cannot make everybody happy all the time, but you could fool a higher proportion of people into believing you would do so!
