Isn't he a poet or a writer? What authority is he on religion? He writes in a poetic way, its not necessarily to be taken literally!

He was a Sufi Peot. In his poetry you can see the translation of Holy Quran. And he can vision the upcoming events. Dont you remember his “Address of Ala abad”. He said, I can see that that the northwest of Punjab, Sarhad, Sindh and Balochistan would be bound as new Muslim state. He didnot say that they should be, he said, I can see.

I read the same Ayah in Quran a few months ago. And so many others. If you are ignorant, why you pass comments…

I'm not ignorant. God never told me or anyone else "hey this guy has divine information, so listen to him". He's not a prophet. He's not a god. He's not a saint, because in Islam there is no such thing as sainthood.
Yeah, he was a wise person, to some. Yeah, he was a poet. And poetry is never to be taken literally, that's why its poetry

I have also heard that Allama Iqbal accepted Ahmadiyyat? ( or he was very attracted to ahmadiyyat )... and then changed back cuz if he were to accept Ahmadiyyat then his poetry would have not be appreciated.....
perhaps someone else can give more detailed answer on this subject..

I am his Granddaughter so I know he was a true muslim. Ahmadiyat is totaly out of Islam. Mind it. Becareful when you talk about my grandfather.

PCG, yes its a fact that Iqbal is not an authority on any of the various aspects of Islam like Hadeeth or Law or theology, but he was primarily a philosopher and a thinker with emense talent, the kind of which the land might have never seen. He also had a great command of the Arabic Language, and he portrayed the message of the Quran in his poetry beautifully. Poetry to him was only a tool, something that would help him deliver his message accross.
He had a great foresight, which is apparent from the kind of poetry he did.

pcg, this maybe what your refering to, there is a famous hadith of Imam Jaffer(as), of which i dont have the ref. on me, that says, ‘bring me the news of the death of King Abdullah from Hijaz, and i will give you the news of the Mahdi’s zuhoor.’
Which abdullah that is, (it might be the current one) we cant be sure. But whoever he is, we do know that he will be killed prematurely, and not from a natural death. So lets just wait an see. But dont be getting ideas, bin laden fans.

The events of the zuhoor of Imam Mehdi(A.S) are clearly given in the hadith and unless someone thinks torabora is Makkah sharif I dont think people will get that Idea.
But you are right we should be very careful.such comparisons play right into the hands of such fanatics.

Abdullah means Man (Servant) of Allah. You can get the meanings also not the exact word. Dont act like Jews who didnot accept Sayyedna Mohammad :saw: as a prophet as they waited for Sayyedna Farqaleet :saw: (two different names of a same person). Yes Farqaleet :saw: is also a name of our beloved Prophet. So what do you think now.
Ma Mooli, yes he could be if he has those qualities.

OMG, I dont think the jews rejected the Prophet (saw) because he had a different name, but because the Prophet they were waiting for was suppose to be rich, and from amongst themselves, and not the common idol worshipping pagans. It was the same reason they rejected Hazrat Isa (as).

Yes that is unfortunate one only needs to look at the false mahdis in the past.
The one from sudan is a good example,the one that killed gordon.Lord Kitchner had the idea of using his skull as a penstand or inkbottle.
