is it right prophet's father's name was abdullah ( meaning slave of allah so it makes u think whether alalh as a god was present in the religious lexicon of pagans even before advent of islam.. if not why this choice of name .

abdullah simply means The man of Allah....
Adul = man
Allah = Allah.... so Abdullah.....the man of Allah.

This is quite off-topic but I will answer you anyway.
Allah was known to be the God in Pegans of Arabia back then too BUT what they believed were on hundreds of other gods besides Him. Quran itself mentions three major names, Laat, Manaat, and Uzza... they were angels according to pegans belief and that angels were the daughter of Allah. They used to pray to them as if they will be their intermediatry with Allah.
Quran itself tells you that Pegan used to believe in ALLAH but not in the way He is supposed to be believe. Their belief was based on SHIRK that is associating others with ALLAH as their Lord.
and Abdullah mean Worshipper of Allah...
Abd = one who does Ibaadah (worship)
