Despite being one with the most economical bowling figures, he is not required to bowl more 7 overs in ODIs.
Why’s that? I am confused.

^ I 'm surprised too, Sohail Tanvir can get to bowl 8-9 overs regardless of how many runs he leaks, Afridi will complete all his 10 overs too.

the decision to bowl tanveer at the death made absolutely NO sense, given that it ended up with Gul having one over remaining.
But that match aside, does the house think Razzaq will be good enough to bowl ten in the subcontinent?

I definitely think tht Razzaq is under bowled particularly given tht he can reverse the ball...........I thought the mngt perhaps wanted to test Tanvir as to how he goes bowling death overs.........I hope tht in normal circumstances, such as in the coming World Cup, Razzaq has his role better defined than the NZ series........

Its not about that match alone. Look at the scorecards for all ODIs in NZ and even matches before this series. He has been consistently frugal with runs and taking one or two crucial wickets, that too during first 15 overs of the innings. Even if he is not considered *competent enough *to restrain batsmen during final overs, he can bowl out his overs economically during 25-40 overs.
The explanation I can think of is that Afridi might think it is unfair for other players if Abdul Razzaq is the one doing all the bowling and batting duties. :D or it could be that he is not fit enough to finish 10 overs?

I know... Razzaq's bowling was remarkably good. I think where there is enough in the conditions to be exploited, Razzaq does very well. On pancake pitches not suited to subtle bowling I dont think hed survive.
But yes, I agree, Razzaq had a great series as a bowler, and should have been tried more in the death overs. And sohail tanveer should never appear in a bowling scorecard for Pakistan again unless its Mohammad Asif bowling under an assumed identity.

In over all Economy rate figures of Pakistani bowlers, Razzaq is on the top with an average of 3.96 but never gave chance to bowl full overs. I’m sure this bcoz that he has no group, no lobby and don’t take part in politics.

I dont think theres any issue of competition. I dont recall Razzaq opening the bowling for a long time as he has been recently, and it isnt just Afridi who regards Razzaq’s bowling as less than the recent stats would suggest. I doubt that under Younus Khan or Inzimam Razzaq was finishing 10 overs. If you listen to commentators and analysis the usual impression is that Razzaq is the bowler to target.

Having said that, if he can produce similar form in the world cup, that analysis should be revised, and he should be considered as a fulltime bowler again.

I listened commentary in 3 match and they were getting confuse that why Razzaq is not bowling in later stage even every bowling getting punish.
Afridi should give Razzaq full chances to batting and bowl.

I like Razzaq. Although, in subcontinent, against a better batting side, such as India, Aussies, England,etc he will struggle. Tanvir sucks but his batting is pretty good. There is no place for Ajmal in this bowling line up. If only Amir was around. We would've had a great shot at winning the WC if Amir was around!!!

I doubt if anyone can disagree with above comments.. Afridi is such a bad captain for a team playing international cricket. That's one of the biggest reasons I'm having no hopes from Pakistan in worldcup.
Regarding, Abdul Razzaq, he's one of the exceptional all-rounder in world cricket. Its only a matter of how you use him. If you send him at #9 position and expect him to be miraculous, then I just fee sorry. Same story goes in bowling. There is still a lot of cricket left in A.R. and we should avail his talent and experience.

Razzaq can only bowl good in seaming conditions …thats why in Sub continent he should be used before the 1st 10 overs then he can be handy with the bowl
He will be our key player for the WC

May be earlier we had bowling services from likes of Aamir, Asif, Shoaib Akhtar(in form/fitness), Rana sahib etc.
