The following may be cruel for someone .but it's a reality(for 95%)
It depends upon where in Pakistan their family belonged to...either chak number 47,a gaon in NWFP or a metropolitan city....coming to US made their desi half educated parents confused...they first drove the taxi's & then transmitted this confusion to their kids(OR in some cases the kalla mundaa got educated in computer software or did his medicine back home & came to US ,got setteled a bit & then called his whole family:half/semi half educated).........In many families father or a brother somehow ended up in US(first worked in a convinient store & then owned it) & then the rest of the family followed....naana naani daada daadi....& ofcourse nil or half educated brothers & cousins....most immigrated in late 60's,throughout 70's & 80's in US & UK...& mostly in 80's & 90's in Canada....
Infact i would say this all ABCDiness,Fobiness or the desiness is good in some aspects....atleast it defines a society here in US,UK or Canada....a Pakistani/Indian society...with which you are identified......it's holding you all & preventing you from going astray with no roots or holdings...

FOBS try to act like ABCD’S too but you do a sht job of it, you’re all hairy baboons, have a gay dress sense and dry hair like you’ve just been electrocuted and you people can barely speak a sentence without the ‘ting’ (and adding lots of “h” sounds wont Englishfy your accent), smell of BO and think every girl on the block fancies you, losers get a friggin’ life. Lalloos like you act like heroes in Pakistan but when you come here you get a shock coz the standards are higher.

I dunno what I am..I;m surely not Arab..and definetly not very desi..but I do think I'm more desi that most Indian catholics in India.
I think you have to just adopt a level where you're comfy in breing who you are be it desi or vi-desi

I dont think the fobby fobs have as hard of a time as desi burgers do, they think that they are all hot shyt in Pakistan, and then they come here and realize that local desis look at them the same way the burgers looked at others in Pakistan.
anyways abcds grow up here, have a certain social group, and pick up the habits from there. Whats the deal with desis back home and how are they "ghetto" or surfer dude all of a sudden even though they have never set a foot outside rawalpindi :D

Well I dont feel that I am a FOB or an ABCD.. even though I wasnt born in the States or Pakistan, I grew up in the states so people assume your an ABCD.
I think I am a FOB stuck in an ABCD's body . . Although I do get ABCD and then later people realize that I know just as much about my religion, culture and Pakistan, and act like a FOB sometimes..
To an extent I do believe that one should have a mixture of both sides.
