Abaya wearers

I had been wearing an abaya for a few months but got tired of the same old black. So i got myself some nice colored jilbabs that i feel more comfortable wearing at school, esp when we live in a small town. I dont like sticking out like a sore thumb. Can you guys either post pics or websites who sell conservative clothing? Like longish coats over skirts etc? Something suitable for school and work, modest and professional at the same time?

Re: Abaya wearers

ira…i like this site

Re: Abaya wearers

^ wow! MashAllah a lot of these are quite modest, and practical!

I personally am not too fond of black abayas but when i do wear one; it has to be with a lighter coloured scarf so I dont look like i'm about to attend a funeral lol.

unfortunately the place i buy mine from doesn't have a website... but they have such professional ones... perfect for work/ uni, etc...

Re: Abaya wearers

Afshi, thanks for the website. I had forgotten about this one.

Pinks, what city do you buy yours from? I got mine from Chicago and absolutely love them. The button down ones, the kind like a long coat, also come with matching pants and the ones without slits or buttons come with matching hijabs.

Re: Abaya wearers

I like Pakistani abayas…ribbons and bells and beads and shimmer oh my

Re: Abaya wearers

lol definately agree w/ Sara! If you live by NJ/NY, they have alot of nice ones on Atlantic Ave. in Brooklyn; in NJ-- Paterson, Jersey City, and Newark has some. I’ve seen girls at school wearing them and MashAllah, they’re abosolutely stunning. I’m going jilbab shopping during spring break inshAllah! woo! :biggthumb
I sent these to Pakistan to get them made for school, and they came out exactly the same =)

Re: Abaya wearers

sydney sey… wanna fly down here to check 'em out :cb:

really? there were very few that I liked… did u know that some of the work some lady get done on their abayas cost Rs3000+ :hayaa:

but if there is one abaya i will never forget is one I saw this lady wear in Madina… she came and sat infront of me and all of my ibaadat was pushed to the back of my mind for a minute :bummer:

it was sheer black material which had the thinnest dimonte chain attached an inch from the edge of the sleeve, from the bottom of the abaya and similarly on the scarf… i tried to immitate it when in pakistan but it looks no where near as good as the one i saw :hinna:

Re: Abaya wearers

I'm sure you can find very stylish abayas in the Middle eastern countries.

Re: Abaya wearers

Sara, i didnt have a chance to check out the abayas when i was in Pak myself but i saw a couple of ppl wearing theirs and the fabric was just not the best.

chandni, thanks sooo much for the pics. Thats a very good idea of getting them made in Pakistan. I think next time i am there, i will be getting these made instead of shalwar kameez :cb:

pinks, now when you mention it, i have always wanted to visit Australia

If anyone has any more pics, keep them coming. Here is one that i got recently.
