1, 2 and 4 for the first few days but after that day roza feels normal…these days, the length of the roza is probably the most bothersome to most people. the best time for fasting would be from November to February. 7-8 hour long roza
Although the length is long here (we just got under 18 hours, started with almost 19 hours), it never bothered me during daytime, but seriously fatigues me out as soon as I break the fast.
No, none of the above. I am back home by 5:15 as its a short drive from work. Do take a short nap, about 30 mins. Then I am up and do wudoo, Quran, and then Asr. Then 2 1/4 more to Maghrib. Just spend family time, and then try to keep myself busy with wife in the kitchen.
I think I get my biggest strength from my 11 and 8 years old who are also fasting regularly with us. They seem to be doing ok, so I find nothing to complain about
masha Allah TLK, i’m really impressed that your children fast at this young age, especially during summer months when days are extra long for fasting. May Allah be pleased with their effort…aameen. tell them that uncle KKF is proud of them.
it’s nice to read that you help Niksik Bhabhi in the Kitchen. i hope you are really helping and not watching her cook over her shoulder.
I want to be honest about my kids. We kind of try to discourage them, because not only the days are long, its extremely hot here. We are going through a 100+ degree (F) spell from last 10 days, and its not dying any time soon. But somehow they are super fired up about fasting, so we dont stop them either.
I spend time in the kitchen, doing small odd jobs. “Yeah fridge main rukh dain, woh bowl oopar se nikaal dain, garage se jaa ke piyaaz ley aa’ain” etc etc
here too we have like 18-hour roza, it’s difficult to NOT experience any hunger/thirst. Sleep schedule is different due to Sehri so we’re not getting enough shuteye this month.
Sometime we put some Documentary or Reality show from Netflix to cut the last couple of hours. The other day we made a mistake of putting Andrew Zimmerman’s Bizarre Food “Delhi. India” episode. As you can imagine, it turned into a torture watching him slurping Mughlai and Kashmiri dishes with Naan, eating kababs and yummy street food.
Nothing from your list. Boys being home for summer vacation and trying to not to yell at them much(ramadan tolerance) esp after asr is what bothers my roza mostly
How are people doing in the weight department with half the month done.
Gained, stayed same as before or lost.
I have barely lost a handful of pounds. Thank God even for that.
That’s always a good thing.
Let them hang at your hip bones when you hang out shirtless working on your lawn.
Should make you feel young and vital again.
I think I’m gaining weight so I’ve stopped doing large sehri. I’ve been focused more on drinking liquids in the morning but I’m so thirsty today. Like I’m legit going to go crazy on the Iftar. So drinking more water is making me more thirsty? How bizarre!
