**barring politicians and the all india radio or the Govt owned tv stations, most ppl speak Hindustani which is a mixture of urdu and Hindi and if u are a muslim u’ll tend to use more arabi and farsi words while Hindus wud use Hindi words. solutations are always based on ur religious orientation but these days u’ll find younger generation ignoring that…they’ll do away with Hi and hello.
yes, Bollywood i wud say is 75% urdu. most lyric and dialogue writers were muslims and hence hard-core urdu was used in older lyrics. even, non muslim lyriz and dialogue writers used urdu and there was a time when writers were pressured to use hindi in lyrics they often did it involuntarily…some examples of hindi based songs:
yadi aap ahmeN aadesh kareN to
prem kaa ham shri Ganesh karen
yaa
chandan sa badan, chanchal chitvan
dheere se tiraa vo muskaanaa
yeh teer kamaan bhaveN teri
tu chanchaltaa kii murat hai
i can safely say that if u take urdu out of Bollywood movies, the movie industry wud become an orphan or a widow. **
