The big battle: Amir trumps Hafeez in BPL showdown
DAWN SPORT — PUBLISHED ABOUT 22 HOURS AGO
Embattled pace star Mohammad Amir continued his rich vein of form in the Bangladesh Premier League with another dazzling performance in the Chittagong Vikings versus Dhaka Dynamites encounter on Tuesday.
Amir picked up 3/18 from his four overs in the match, but the most riveting moment in the clash came when former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez faced upto the left-armer.
After dismissing Misbah-ul-Haq and Shahid Afridi earlier in the tournament, Amir came out on top yet again as Hafeez failed to capitalise on an opportunity to score some runs and according to some witty fans onTwitter, the ‘Professor’ did not even want to be on the same pitch as the 23-year-old ‘spot-fixing tainted pacer’.

Amir steamed in and a sharp out-swinging delivery forced an outside edge off Hafeez’s bat straight into the gloves of wicketkeeper Anamul Hoque. It followed three deliveries which beat the batsman all ends up. Hafeez’s figures stood at 1(5).
Amir had debuted for Chittagong Vikings with a bang in his first-ever BPL game on Nov 22, returning match figures of 4 for 30 in four overs, his scalps including that of a rampaging Misbah-ul-Haq (61).
Hafeez, who is said to be among a group of players in the Pakistan side who are strongly opposed to allowing the spot-fixing trio to play for the national team again, found himself in an awkward position after losing his wicket to Amir — in what can be termed as a very soft dismissal.
The Chittagong Vikings match with Dhaka Dynamites was much anticipated as earlier Hafeez had reportedly turned down an offer to play alongside Amir’s team in BPL, saying that he could not “share a dressing room with a player who tarnished the image of Pakistan”.
However Hafeez, who was overlooked by all five BPL teams during the initial draft, made a late entry in the tournament after signing for Dhaka Dynamites two days ago. The former Pakistan captain’s limited-overs form was inconsistent during recently-concluded series against England in the United Arab Emirates and the ‘Professor’ is hoping his BPL stint can get him back into rhythm.

Well done Amir, fast and furious v ordinary batsmen.
Re: Aamir va Hafeez…and we all know who won!
A fitting reply. Amir got Hafeez, Misbah and Hafeez in BPL, Shoaib Malik in T/20 in Pakistan.

this guy hafeez opened his mouth so unnecessarily on aamir and now paid the price. hafeez will be dismissed in 2 minutes by anderson next year in England. the only saving grace will be mohammaad aamir.
and now uncle rameez is bul****ting left and right...another super ordinary player.
waqar who is a legend himself got it right away as he understands aamir's value to the team, and now pushing to include aamir but uncle sheryar at age of 98 has no decision power..except getting us insulted by indan board
mein to kehta hoon sir jee, if asif performs well, bring him in for englad and aus tours next year and then kick him out.
Re: Aamir va Hafeez...and we all know who won!
Regardless of who is performing well, all the folks caught in the spot fixing scandal have paid a price and shoukd be treated in the same manner - it should he put behind.
Odds are Cairns doesn't go to jail.
Hafeez and anyone else who were holier than thou and made public disparaging comments about Aamir et al should be banned by PCB for two years. That will teach them to beat up on people who are already down.

To all fans of Amir
Re: Aamir va Hafeez...and we all know who won!
Classic example of moral rot of Pakistanis.
A principled cricketer who has no wrong to his country's name gets abused for a fixer. Then they wonder why criminal politicians get elected to higher office. It is a same level of moral rot. Education has nothing to do with this.
I rather have a team full of mediocre, but clean and principled cricketers than 'talented' criminals.
I don't know why Pakistanis living in West are crying about Amir's expulsion. A criminal conviction, especially a prison sentence means you won't be hired for 99.9% of the jobs (including cleaners job).
So why the double standards when it comes to criminals representing your country at the highest level?
Re: Aamir va Hafeez...and we all know who won!
Those who have paid the price for their actions deserve a second chance. An 18 year old especially deserves a second chance after a 5 year penalty.
Players who act as a higher authority and use their Professorship and position as a veteran cricketer to keep the said players permanent away from the game of cricket should have the book thrown at them. For they have committed the ultimate sin - playing god

Amir can play cricket at any level, but representing Pakistan is a privilege which he has lost. Time to give another deserving teen a chance....
Choice depends on Pakistan - whether they really want to get out of the shadows of match fixing by taking a moral stance and drawing a line or keep on recycling fixers.
Re: Aamir va Hafeez...and we all know who won!
People can make for and against case for Amir's inclusion in the team, and that's okay. The point is, don't thrash a clean cricketer just because he doesn't have God gifted talent of fixers and he dare make a really principled opinion which doesn't go very well with some people's ideas.
Although it is his right to have that opinion and express it, but he shouldn't have made these remarks in public. It was unnecessary. but other than that, Hafeez with all his limited talent, mediocre skills and expertise, has served his country well with professional integrity to the best of abilities, and he deserves some basic respect for that.
Winning or losing is not everything in life!
Re: Aamir va Hafeez...and we all know who won!
Hafeez is such a loser batsman......first he was steyn's bunny, now amir's bunny, and soon will be anderson's bunny......and then trent boult's and tim southee's bunny.
when is this professor going to retire from cricket......surely wo next WC se hamara exit kerwa ke ye meherbani kerayga ??
lol
Re: Aamir va Hafeez...and we all know who won!
Regardless of Hafeez talent (or lack of it) that he chose to make his stance public was his mistake. For those of us who believe in second chances, that mistake is bigger than what an 18 year old committed 5 years ago.
Re: Aamir va Hafeez...and we all know who won!
well it seems the pcb chairman does not want him in the team..poor Amir will have to wait maybe until he's 30 or something......maybe by then these old horses will have retired, lol
Re: Aamir va Hafeez...and we all know who won!
I always believe in 2nd chance and I do not agree with Hafeez's PUBLIC remarks about Aamir. Hafeez is entitled to have an opinion but he should convey his opinion to right authority through PROPER channel. Hafeez should be punished for breaching the code of conduct from PCB. What happened to Hafeez was perhaps the karma of opening mouth in public.
Btw, Amir's controversy or not, Hafeez at best can be defined as "OK batsman".
Financial fraudsters don't get jobs in financial firms even if they have done 'their time'. Same with every single profession out there. Why different rules for desi cricket?
So you do not believe in 2nd chance? At least not in the same "field" ?

Re: Aamir va Hafeez…and we all know who won!
Wasim career was ending. He did not want to give legend a bad name.
Mohammad Amir’s case is very different. He was 18 year old teenager. He was youngest among three. Many cricket expert from West are in favor of his second chance including Geoffrey Boycott.
View of Ramiz Raja may be valid but Pakistan cricket had already suffered a lot. Big three block and constant begging to play with India is mockery to Pakistanis. Ramiz Raja can not see that but he will never miss the chance to criticise Amir. Players like Ramiz Raja, never performed in team , turned into cricket commentator are now telling who should not play in team. :nook:
PCB is very strong since it started central contract. PCB can penalize players and bring good atmosphere in dressing room.
