You’re right on all those accounts, but he didn’t take that many wickets because of corruption, but despite it. This means that he was a better bowler than everyone else during the past year, and hence deserves the award if the sole criteria of the award the number of wickets.

He did perform brilliantly and I was rooting for him too. I am just saying that a dishonest player who defiles the game like he did should not receive any kind of cricketing award.
