Aamir Khan-Javed Akhtar wash dirty linen in public

The newly appointed panel of Copyright Act Committee is facing a turmoil as panel member Aamir Khan has resigned from the committee after an ugly war of words with lyricist Javed Akhtar.
During the meeting, Aamir Khan said that lyricist don’t contribute much towards the success of a song and only star actors make the song superhit.

However when Aamir reacted that, more than a lyricist , a writer contributes more to a movie, Javed replied back ,* “Good for Chetan Bhagat”.* referring to the 3 Idiot’s Chetan Bhagat controversy.

What do you think folks? Does a star makes a song super hit or the lyricist and music composers.

There are songs that become your favorite after you watch the movie. Its not necessarily because the actor performed it so well but because now you can associate more than just lyrics and tune to the song, i.e. the situation, the choreography and what not.

I guess success of song starts with good music. Chale Chalo was hit becuse of music and then lyrics, then the choreography of the song and then amir's performance.

I think its the lyrics and tune that makes a song hit. Most songs become super hit even before the release of a movie. There are so many songs that we all like but don't even watch the movie, well true for me at least. Although the stars do add to the success of songs.

Re: Aamir Khan-Javed Akhtar wash dirty linen in public

in bollywood the soundtrack of a movie is released before the actual movie, hoping its pull to attract the audiences into the cinema when the film releases, that's how important the role of music alone is, often these days the soundtrack itself is more popular than the movie. pretty arrogant of amir to argue this, why does he always insist on taking all the credit for everything in his movies?? he is seriously deluded if he thinks his movies are a one-man show.

Re: Aamir Khan-Javed Akhtar wash dirty linen in public

Amir Khan is an awesome actor, but a stuckup crybaby, just cuz he never got a filmfare in his very first movie he to this day does not come to any award functions, idiot indeed :k:

Just to be on his side, I am sure he was not trying to take the credit but was trying to speak on behalf of all the actors.

Re: Aamir Khan-Javed Akhtar wash dirty linen in public

Both play an important role. For instance, the recent zooby dooby song didn't appeal to me at all until I watched it in the movie.

I actually admire him for doing that. He doesn’t come to award shows because he finds them unfair and biased, which is extremely true. It’s always either a Shahrukh or Bacchan show all the way, if they don’t have any hit movies that can win them awards, categories are created for them so they go home with something.
Aamir has gotten a few awards in the past few years, for actor, producer, director, but he never showed up to collect any of them. It takes more than a stuckup cry baby to stand up to that extent for what he believes in

Re: Aamir Khan-Javed Akhtar wash dirty linen in public

Jaaved Akhtar is a great poet but a very obnoxious and arrogant man.

Aamir is right :k: In Hindi movies, it is the music and choreography that make a song successful and not the lyrics themselves.

Jaaved Akhtar wrote the song “Ek Do Teen” from the movie Tezaab. It was Madhuri’s dance and the foot tapping music that made the song a hit and not the inane lyrics by Mr. Akhtar.

Re: Aamir Khan-Javed Akhtar wash dirty linen in public

but please dont forget Choli ke peechay kiya hai .. amazing lyrics .. :D

Re: Aamir Khan-Javed Akhtar wash dirty linen in public

^:omg:

did javed akhtar write those?

In the defense of lyricists, 80% of all songs in bollywood are written after the music has been composed and the setting for the song has been determined... so the "inane" lyrics are demanded by the script and the music.

We're talking about the same Javed Akhtar who can write masterpieces such as Jashn-e-BahaaraaN.

Coming back to the debate, I personally think it's a matter of individual preference... I like songs with good lyrics and music irrespective of how its rendered in the movie.

you’re forgetting class acts such as Jhuma Chumma Dey Dey… nothing beats those lyrics :hehe:

I think when it comes to stupid songs that can’t stand on their own, yes… we definitely need good actors to make something of them.

Re: Aamir Khan-Javed Akhtar wash dirty linen in public

Wow, uh, Javed Akhtar was pretty nasty with that writer comment.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
