Alright, what gives . . . why is it that some strectch it while others keep it a short.
Whats the history behind it if any?

better ask the Jews about this hebrew word.. . they're the ones who exported it to other religions and it was borrowed wholesale by 'Muslim' hadith collectors.

if u ever read the word the alif has a "mad" on it which is meant to prolong....
hence it wud start with AAA and not A....
why ppl prolong the "meeeen" is only why ppl prolong other words when they recite the Quran....
