I was watching the other night and a question came up about organ donation. One of the aalims said that we could donate in life eg a kidney but we could not donate after death. Now I was under the impression that we could donate after death. So surely this also means that if we were critically ill we could not accept a dead persons organs to save our life right? Or could we. And if we could why the double standards?
The other guy who I think was from the Shia side said that organs could be donated after death.
They answer 2-3 questions and don't provide details as to why, when, who..etc I suggest you look it up www.sunnipath.com or any other trusted q&a site.

These guys dont go in details and that is so pathetic. 30 minutes program and they answer 2 questions and that aslo without any details
Dontaing organs is haraam, but because you are allowed to do haraam, if some one is dying and that is the only choice (like eating pork if someone is dying out of hunger and has no other choice), thus donating organ and blood is allowed.
I dont think that it should matter if the donater is a dead person or alive. And btw, no alive person is going to donate his heart which is almost the number 1 organ in demand
The only logic I can think of (regarding dead person donation) is that Islam promotes very highly, the respect of dead body. and opening the body kind of violates that

It doesnt make sense....WHy not after death?..I have done my research and I'm on the organ Donor registery as of now. There is just too much ignorance on that part there r a lot of people who die needless because of waiting for an organ..I would think that donating an organ after one dies would be sadqaa e jariya..
