zIt’s a side issue. So I don’t want to get into too much of it. Except to say that JICA cannot give this loan-cum-grant unless guarantees from the federal government. Clearing encroachment should be the least difficult issue as compared to things like financing.

After 18th amendment to the constitution, guarantees from federal government are no more needed.

Besides, that was just one example. The article in brecorder says that development funds from other projects on Pakistan were used. So obviously there were more than just one project of KCR which was compromised. What this article said about development funds was also one of the complaints of Qaim Ali Shah.

That is not true. The article says: “The Rs30 billion MBS spending was possible by compromising projects across the province.”

Province, not Pakistan. I am sure it would have benefited the country as a whole if smaller Punjabi cities were developed instead of concentrating Lahore only. Punjab’s budget’s spending, however, does not effect other provinces’ development budget. Qaim Ali Shah can eat up Sindh’s budget on ‘creating government jobs’ [and later selling them] for jiyalas but would still cry on.

Finally, my point was not about KCR as much as it was about Shahbaz using PMLQ’s and Musharrf’s project..

At least he is doing something, unlike CMs of KP and Sindh who are just doing opposition for the sake of it.

A lot is said by Sharifiay about how good ShowBaz is for the province. But they ignore how PMLQ and Musharraf were building the whole country, including Punjab. They had long term planning for the country, for example REAL emphasis on eduction, like HEC, instead of just distributing laptops (compare the IQ level).

Yes, I would agree that laptop scheme is the most bizarre waste public money. There must be strong opposing voice against it. Imagine how many rural schools could have been upgraded with this money.
