Re: Aaj kya pakaaya/khaaya
i made jalebis today…i love them and my first try at them turned out pretty good..![]()
Looks fabulous, yum…yum..Are they crispy ? I made Jalebi few months ago, but they turned out soft, so I left to try again, plz share your recipe, I will try again.
Re: Aaj kya pakaaya/khaaya
^JIAS...yes they were crispy when i made them...but i had another piece just now (after 6 hrs of making them) and it wasn't that crisp....but i think jalebis become that way after a while...
INGREDIENTS:
*1 cup flour
*1/2 cup rice flour
*3-4 tablespoons yogurt
*a pinch of baking soda
*the recipe called for 1/4tsp cream of tartar ,but I did not have that so i never used it
*yellow food color
Mix all and put in a plastic bag with a small hole in the corner so that u can pour it in hot oil
SUGAR SYRUP:
*3 cups sugar
*enough water so that when u heat the sugar and water it is very thick in consistency...if it will be thin the jalebis will turn soggy
*add green cardamoms, some rose water and saffron thread to the sugar syrup...
Fry the jalebis and add them to sugar syrup, just for a few secs...then remove and let it cool...
i ruined the first few ones as i let them sit in sugar syrup for too long...just be careful not to oversoak them...:)
Thanks Chips6 for the recipe, I will try them soon, Insha-Allah.
