We tried Hot n Sour soup this weekend and it turned out really good. Thanks for the recipe from whole family

In fact let me quote my princess who is resident expert on hot m sour soup

d6c bhaiyya, i have two versions of this soup..the regular recipe way and the shortcut way…both are amazing and turn out perfect so I’ll let you choose which way you want to make it..

**Shortcut recipe:

**Sautee sliced mushrooms and shredded carrots in a smidge of oil and let them soften…once these are sauteed, I added one carton of this:

Let it come to a low boil/simmer and add your cooked shredded chicken, cubes of firm tofu and if you like bamboo shoots…thicken with cornstarch (2 tbsp of cornstarch to 2 tbsp cold water) and let it come back up to a low boil. At the end, slowly add one beaten egg and stir. Garnish with chopped green onion and wonton strips. It took me maybe 15 minutes tops.

If you don’t want to use the prepared chicken broth (and this was the first time I tried it, I always make my own) then here is the traditional recipe I usually follow and it turns out just as perfect:

4 C chicken broth (again, I make big batches about once a month, so I always have this on hand..if you don’t you could use 4 cups water and 4 knorr or maggi cubes but I don’t like all the sodium/msg in those)
3 tbsp soy sauce
Shredded cooked chicken
Sliced or diced mushrooms
shredded carrots (optional)
1/2 tbsp chili garlic sauce
1/4 tsp white pepper
1/4 cup white vinegar
canned bamboo shoots, drained and julienned
firm tofu, cut in diced cubes
2 tbsp cornstarch and 2 tbsp water
1 beaten egg
chopped green onion for garnish
1/2 tsp of toasted sesame oil (optional)

Sautee your mushrooms and shredded carrots until soft, then add in the chicken broth. Add soy sauce, chicken and the chili garlic sauce. Simmer for 5 minutes then add the white pepper, white vinegar, bamboo shoots and tofu. Simmer again for another 5 minutes. Combine the cornstarch and water to make a slurry and thicken the soup. Simmer for another 5 minutes or so and when soup is thick, pour the beaten egg in slowly and stir. Lastly, add the green onions and toasted sesame oil of using. (you can adust the level of sour/hot etc by adding more vinegar or chili paste per your liking)

Serve and enjoy!

That's dry fenugreek leaves (Qasoori Methi). Thats main ingredient of fish curry. will post the recipe.

OK, technically this is not cooked but made but hey what the hey!

Since its going to be mid-upper 80s here for today and next 3-4 days, nothing better than a bowl full of cold fruit chaat/salad for lunch

Ingredients: Apple, Grapes, Banana, Pear, Yellow Peach, Tangerines & Oranges, salt , black pepper, lemon juice
