**Fish Karahi **
Here is the original recipe, which I found on Delicious Bytes on FB; included are my changes at the end of the recipe.
Ingredients
1/2 kg / 1 lb fish, boneless, cut into pieces (not too small, otherwise they will break up in the salan)
oil as needed
3-4 medium tomatoes, chopped
1 tbsp fresh crushed ginger /garlic
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp dry coriander, crushed
1 tsp whole cumin, crushed
1/2 - 1 tbsp red chilli powder (or less for mild)
4 tbs fresh sliced green coriander
1/2 tsp garam masala powder
2 tbsp yogurt
3-4 green chillies
chopped cilantro (dhaniya) for garnish
Method
Add the oil to pan and fry fish pieces on high just for 2 min then take off and keep on side.
In same pan, add tomatoes, ginger garlic, salt, dry coriander, cumin and red chilli powder. Cook mixture until it thickens and oil separates (bhun).
Mix in salt,yogurt ,garam masala, green chillies,
Mix the fish back gently into this mixture,
Tightly cover the lid cook on very low heat (dhum) for 10 mins., or until cooked/ through.
Sprinkle the fresh sliced green cilantro and garam masala.
CHANGES I MADE:
1 medium onion, finely diced
Added 1/2 tsp ajwain
First fried onions until slightly pink, added ajwain, ginger / garlic, fry. Then followed from tomatoes step onwards. Or add ajwain at the end.
